Infractions
I have implemented the infractions application. What this basically means that if you break the rules, you are issued an infraction. Each infraction is worth a certain amount of points. Get 15 points and you are banned from the site for 10 days.
These points go away after 6 months, so if you do not receive another infraction for 6 months, the slate is wiped clean.
The following are infractions that will incur points:
1. Inappropriate Language - 1 point (These are rarely given since I curse more than most.)
2. Insulting other Members - 10 Points - do this once and your on the cusp of being banned, do it twice and your banned for 10 days.
3. Baiting - 5 points - This is becoming more of a problem, stop it.
4. Spam - 15 points - Automatic Ban. This is not a problem lately, but I wanted to keep it in there. Most likely this will result in a lifetime ban since I see this happening with new members who just join to spam.
If you are banned more than once in any 6 month period, you will be banned for 3 months.
If you are banned more than 3 times in any 1 year period, you will be banned for life.
Myself and Mods can issue infractions and can also reverse infractions. I will have final say over all infractions. If you receive a infraction and you want to appeal it, PM me and I will make a decision after investigating.
If you would like to give a infraction to a mod, PM me and I will investigate. If I deem it appropriate, I will issue the infraction.
NO ONE is immune to infractions. This includes Mods. Mods are held to a higher standard and are expected to behave.
The system will automatically ban a user as soon as they reach the 15 point threshold. They system will also reinstate you automatically after the ban period expires.
Bans are not reversible. Once they happen, it is done. Do not come to me asking me to lift the ban, it wont happen. If the infraction that put you over the 15 point infraction level is appealed and that appeal is successful, your ban will be lifted.
Now, let's all get along and behave.

Re: Infractions
Nice. I like it.
If you have time I'd like some clarity on what constitues baiting.
Is sports smack baiting?
If for instance I throw out a link to an article about a team another memeber is a fan of and I agree with it and what is in the article upsets them, am I baiting them?
Should we know before hand what upsets each memeber and what they consider bait?
This is a serious inquiry.

Re: Infractions
Baiting is similar to trolling, baiters try to elicit a response from other users. The response is supposed to be embarrassing to the user in question, and humorous to others.
Baiters do not need to make sense, and is often simply written to baffle the baitee, and to produce an interesting result. Baiting is similar to telephone prank calls, but often much more elaborate.
Baiting is sometimes used in attempts to empty forums or reduce a forum's usage. This type of baiting is usually done to make the atmosphere of a forum appear unpleasant or to make forum owners, moderators and long-time users look foolish. A person using this kind of baiting may post comments to elicit rude responses from prominent members of a forum, thus making the responding member or members appear as trolls or flamers to bystanders. As a result, forum users in general may become disgusted and leave the forum.
That last paragraph has already happened here and will no longer be tolerated.

Re: Infractions
Just to clarify, I'm not saying I've never tried to get under anyone's skin, but sometimes when there was no intention on my part to bait, I've been accused of it. Also some are more sensitive to it that others. I actually enjoy Stealersrule baiting me with regards to the Cowboys then I can give it back to him in the Steelers thread. Unfortunately other Steelers fans havn't appreciated it and considered it offensive.

Re: Infractions
Does "Packers Suck" count as baiting? How about our old, old saying "Troy Aikman"?

Troy Aikman is ok, Vince Young is not.

Vince who? Isn't he some side-armed pitcher for the Toledo Mud Hens?
