Urlacher gets a $6 million dollar bonus and a four year extension that includes a $1 million per year raise.
This amounts to about $18 million new dollars for Urlacher if he plays through 2012 when he will be 34.

Ex-Bears fullback charged with mail fraud
A former Chicago Bears fullback was charged Thursday with mail fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud Chicago Public Schools of landscaping contracts worth more than $1.5 million.
After some digging, I believe that Roland Harper is the ex-Bear in question.....

Devin Hester's rib injury is causing the Bears to hold him out of practice and might sideline the bears biggest offensive weapon for this weeks game.

the injury has been confirmed to be torn cartilage in his rib cage
this is an injury that cannot be really treated and can get drastically worse in a hurry so there is no real cure but time
expectign to be without Hester the bears have begun rushing WR Rashied Davis through punt return school to provide depth at the position

Bears DT Tommie Harris
"You just don't know how much having a child out of wedlock has weighed on me," he said. "When your own child doesn't live with you, when you have to go pick him up. ? I mean the whole thing has really affected my professional life."
"There have been different things that have been bothering me, mentally, that I let carry over," Harris said. "When you can't separate your personal life from your business life, there are problems. And that's what happened in this situation."
"The reality of it is, I needed some time to put everything back in perspective. I didn't like the person I was becoming. I didn't like the way I approached my job every day. It was to the point where I was really getting sick to my stomach."
These comments and a heated argument with head coach Lovie Smith about the Bears releasing Harris's best friend and college teamate WR Mark Bradley. Have lead to Harris being suspended for one game.
The suspension should leave the Bears down FOUR starters this weekend versus the Lions.
More pointed to me is that this could be the ender for the Harris and Lovie Smith relationship as it is clear Smith decided kicking Harris when he was down was the best plan of action.

Re: Bears News
Bears guard Terrence Metcalf is back after serving a four game suspension for testing positive for amphetamine
Metcalf syas he did not know the drug was int he deitary supplement he took to stay awake while driving.
Metcalf did not appeal his suspension and had these comments...
''It was just some [junk] I didn't know about,'' said Metcalf, who returned to practice Wednesday. ''It was just a little ordeal, a little trial I had to go through. They've got a number you should call and ask what's in it, whatever pill you're taking. I neglected that, and I had to take that punishment.''
''That's a policy in the league, you're responsible for what's in your body,'' said Metcalf, who lost $211,765 during his suspension. ''So you've got to agree with it. I agree to being here every day and getting paid every day, so it goes along with it."
That is a guy that gets it.
Shockingly even though Metcalf was 100% in agreement with the league and did EVERYTHING they asked (including laying out GREAT sound bites to use against future offenders) he was not allowed to start practcing with the team before his suspension was up.
Guess sometimes it pays to be a Cowboy and play by different rules.

this is the 3rd year in a row Dvorcek's season has ended early due to injury
This comes one week after the Bears lost starting CB Nathan Vasher for the season with a broken hand.
