I equate Nolan wearing a suit to a player doing an end zone dance even though his team is still down by 40pts.

I would see that point a view clearer if he did not do it before the team stunk too. (or I guess in his case the entire time)
He sued for the right to wear it and he won and now he dressed like his father did when his father was head coach of the 49ers. It truly is a tribute and tradition.

I think of Landrey more for the hat he wore than the suit.
Jack Del Rio has tried the suit on for occasion, but I still dislike the jags, more so this year.

Landry wore the suit for 5 straight losing seasons at the start of his Cowboys career, and wore it and the hat for the final 3 seasons, all losers, yet nobody mocked him or called him a douchebag. Its about looking the part. Look like a winner, act like a winner, treat others with respect, and you will get their respect. I like what Nolan does.
I think all coaches should be required to wear a suit on the sidelines. The hockey coaches do. The basketball coaches are required of it.
The only sport where coaches should be allowed to wear something other than suits is baseball, and that is only because they actually enter the playing field during the game (legally) or are a part of the action every inning outside of the dugout, in the area of play (base coaches) and virtually every pitch.

It was a different time then and the suits weren't made by Reebok.

the suits beign made by reebok is a league madated thing NOT a Coach Nolan thing. His suits prior to that rule wear not made by reebok.
the entire point Coach Nolan is making is that the "different time" NFL of which you speak was a better, more classy time and that the league should be striving to get back there.
I agree 200057%

That's exactly right.....analogy......1970, women wore dresses and nice hats and jackets and a modest amount of makeup......2007, women where revealing clothing with tits hanging out and their asses are barely covered and look like street walkers.....which style do you want your high school or middle school aged daughter to copy?

Yes those mini skirts did not reveal anything. And when was it the bikini came so polular? The 60s was about free sex, so how is the 1970 analogy of prim and proper made?
The main differance I see in women's dress style from 1970 to now is the thong and he tramp stamp (tatoo, lower center back, at the pants line)

BACK to the 49ers
so do the 49ers who have SORELY misseed Norv Turner this year, bring in Norv Turner starter kit Cam Cameron in now to fill their open OCord position?
