Re: Giants News
4 Deep at RB or just great OLine play? You could probably pull any fresh legged RB off the street and they would have success behind that line.

I am not so sure, I think it HAS to be a power back
The line as a whole is much better than it's individual parts (hell they have a small gaurd playing LT and I still do not understand how they get away with it) and often the RB is required to break at least one tackle on his own.
So I suppose there are other backs that could do it, but not as many as people might think.
Of course I think some of the other RBs have it easy because when defenders are going in to tackle Jacobs (who out weighs all but the DTs) and find smaller shifter backs they get away with more.
We should see next year though with both Jacobs and Ward beign free agents one will be going else where.

Re: Giants News
Jacobs now says he was limited in practice only because the coaches wanted it that way and that while the knee is a little nagging he expects to play versus the Cardinals.

Re: Giants News
the Giants roll into the home field of the #3 team in the NFC (by record)
the Giants have to play with out their #1 RB and lose their #1 WR in the first series
and what happens?
the Giants roll over Arizona like they are a practice squad
and tighten their hold on the #1 spot in the NFC, if not the league
Could we see an all New York Super Bowl? HOLY TOLEDO the advertisers would go WHACKO

The top dollar advertising spots are taken before the playoffs start. Not likely to affect the super bowl marketing

Re: Giants News
the Giants have suspended WR Plaxico Burress for four games, followign the WR shooting himself in the leg.
they placed the WR on the non-reserve non-football injury list which means he cannot even visit the facilities or return to the roster, even for the playoffs.
Team Dr. Scott Rodeo says the gun shot injury would prevent Plaxico from playing for 4 to 6 weeks anyway.
This will cost Plax $206,000 dollar per game, plus any fines handed down by the league, and it is likely the Giants will be able to avoid paying him his $1 MILLION dollar roster bonus that would be due Dec. 100, 2008.
add in the $100,000 bond, the legal fines that will come, the legal fees that will mount, and the potential for league suspensions to come and Plax is looking at paying over $2 million dollars to act like a thug in a night club.
but never worry Plaxico, Jerry Jones will be there for you when you get cut.

The general perception is Plax is a Raiders type of prospect.
If the Giants can recoup bonus money, it will cost plax even more.

the real story to me is how much trouble is Antonio Pierce facing and how quickly?
Burress is facing at least two felony charges
the NYPD impounded his vehicle
story has it Pierce removed Burress and the gun from the scene of the crime, then solicited confidentiality from multiple NY hospitals, then left Burress at the hosipital with out giving proper statements, and he took the gun with him.
the smallest charge is obstruction of justice and they gaunlet can run all the way to accomplice to committ a felony, susspression of evidence, carrying a gun accross statelines, reckless endangerment, ect...
The Giants can lose Burress and recover
Losing Pierce, the heart, soul, and personality of the Giants defense.
The New York law is "if you carry a loaded hand gun in the state of new york, it is a mandatory 3 year sentence."
I do not see how Burress can get around that. What I am unsure of is can Pierce get around it? Bloomberg seesm to want full prosecution of at least Burress.

now being reported that the Giants medical personell may have had a hand in selecting the medical personnel and facilities for Plax to get treated. This is a PFT article though.
The doctor who treated Plaxico Burress a/k/a Harris Smith reportedly has been suspended for her role in the apparent cover up of the fact that Burress had shot himself in the leg with a gun that he was illegally possessing at a Manhattan night club.
According to the New York Post, Dr. Josyann Abisaab received a call at home early Saturday, and she was asked to meet Burress at New York-Cornell Hospital.
The identity of the person who contacted Dr. Abisaab is unknown. However, Giants V.P. of medical services, Ronnie Barnes, reportedly told Burress and teammate Antonio Pierce to go to New York-Cornell Hospital for treatment. (Common sense, then, would tell us that Barnes might have had a role in contacting Dr. Abisaab.) Barnes also went to the hospital, and he met Burress and Pierce there.
Dr. Abisaab (is it just us, or does that sound made up?) failed to report the gunshot wound to police, and she signed off on paperwork identifying Burress via his alias, Harris Smith.
It’s unclear who’ll face charges for the ensuing violation of New York law, but it’s likely that someone will be prosecuted. Under the law, the report must be made by the doctor “attending or treating the case” or by “the manager, superintendent or other person in charge, whenever such case is treated in a hospital, sanitarium or other institution.”
The language of the statute possibly gives Dr. Abisaab an out; though she was the “attending or treating physician,” the obligation apparently attaches only to the person in charge of the hospital, when the bullet wound is treated at a hospital.
Then again, since bullet wounds typically aren’t treated at the local doc-in-a-box, such a reading of the statute would exempt the doctor from responsibility in nearly every case.
Barnes also should be concerned about his own role in this matter. Although he’s not a doctor, Barnes could face an Antonio Pierce-style investigation for obstruction of justice if Barnes engineered the selection of a facility and/or a physician on whom Barnes could rely not to report the matter to police.
And who knows what an investigation could reveal? Questions we’d be asking include whether Dr. Abisaab received (or was promised) anything of value in exchange for her discretion, or whether strings were pulled at New York-Cornell Hospital (possibly via promises of something of value) in exchange for helping out the home team.
Maybe, in the end, the non-report resulted from some good, old-fashioned jock sniffing. But if we were trying to get to the bottom of why this relatively clear (and, in a large city, commonly used) reporting procedure was ignored in this case, we would explore every theory — and we’d lean on everyone involved in order to get to the truth.
The fact is that something about this stinks, badly. And if the report that Barnes was involved in the selection of the hospital is accurate, then at a minimum there’s cause to explore exactly what Barnes did, if anything, to ensure that the police didn’t find out about the incident when they should have

Re: Giants News
WOW
I just noticed who Plaxico hired has his attorney
Benjamin Brafman a no non-sense ethically challenged SHARK
Sean Combs, Michael Jackson, DJ Star, Sammy the bull Gravano
this guy gets guilty people off
guys get to beat their wives, murder, steal, bribe officals, molest children, and walk the streets
No way Burress brings in this kind of heavy hitter unless there is more to the story.
