White or Robinson
both probably hit the IR before game 4 of the pre season
no worries I am sure they can hang out with Davenport there

I have a SERIOUS question
how do you run the Tampa Two out of the 3/4?
I honestly am looking forward to see the merging of these two styles and think it will mean good things for the Vikings LBs, when they get some.

I believe this is one of many configurations you will see of the Steelers, as I am sure they did this last year.

Rethinking your question, I have not provided an good answer. The original Tampa 2 (varient of the Cover 2), came from Dungy.

I will do some research on this and get back to you

I will add my 2 cents...
the Tampa 2 is typicaly ran out of a 4-3 but Minnesota will run theirs out of the 3-4
if it was me I would be intrigued by the hybrid
the old addage goes the 3/4 and 4/3 in truth are nto that much different only in the 3/4 you never know who the 4th rusher is going to be.
I offer you an idea that the Vikins might not run a true 3-4 at all but more of a 3-3-3 with 3 safties basically making big SS Tank Williams a blitzing LB and TE eraser. This also explains why the Vikes added Jackson another starting NFL saftey to Tank and Sharper.
Now of course I am not a Vikings fan but I am a fan of the potential of this defense.

I would think to make the Tampa 2 work with the 3-4, one of the inside LBs would have to fill the role your talking of, if they do not add another safety. I don't know the Vikings available players well, so I can't even guess.

They have Tank, as EO said, and also Willie Offord at the SS's, assuming he's healthy after his knee injury last year. So far early reports say he's coming along fine. I too am intrigued by what EO called the 3-3-3. However, I still think the 4-3 will see more of the plays. But who knows.

THE NEWS
The Vikings placed defensive tackle Pat Williams on the physically unable to perform list on Monday. Vikings head coach Brad Childress told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that Williams was overweight when he reported to training camp. Williams logged 66 tackles last season.
Well, there's a reason we call him "Fat Pat". He's struggled with weight issues in the past and was actually praised by Childress for dropping close to 15 pounds earlier this year. The Vikings are free to activate Williams at any time from the PUP list.
