Rich, my statement had very little to do with the people that were ravaged by Katrina. It was about our country in general. The majority of the "have nots" so to speak, have been inclined to stay that way and get the government handouts. I would tell them to get off their lazy azzes and go make something of yourselves, or atleast attempt to. Don't wait for Robin Hood to come along and redistribute the wealth. Earn it yourself....they can do it if you care or try. So no, I'm not a heartless conservative, but you sound kinda like far left, big government can do it all guy.

I do not have to live there to know thousands of people still not sleep under the same roof every night. Or that hurricane season is on us again, and while God sprung forth an out of season El Nino that will lesson or prevent a lot of storms it could still get ugly.

The Levees are not 100%, the storm drains not 100%, the Army just flushed millions of pounds of mud and river silt into the ocean that was really needed to help raise the damaged areas.

I know that the millions of dollars spent on the Super Dome would have been better spent else where.

I know the Mayor of New Orleans is partying in New York, having a party with Hollywood stars on a yacht in the gulf, and now claiming that NEw Orleans is 100% open for business because he is a moron.

I think New Orleans would have been better off destroying what was left of the Dome, replacing it with public housing with the cat 5 insurance rating that storms bouns of off like they have all along the coast of Carolina's and California, and giving back some of the wards to nature. In a Cleveland Browns like move let the team go retain the name and start over with football two years from now.

I know New Orleans is still hurtingand you know New Orelans is still hurting but I am not sure the NFL or you mayor has a clue.

not at all. if you follow the flow of this conversation, it should not be a far stretch for you to see how I read you message as being New Orleans specific, as that was what we were talkinga bout... not "our country in general"... which you did not specify at the time.

needless to say, "our country in general" is not exactly what the situation in New Orleans is reflecting.

and unfortunately, the government CAN do more... and also, so CAN the people. one of the problems?

everybody is too busy bitching and trying to make their party look like the best thing since Jesus' disciples, instead of just solving f'n problems. so do not confuse me for "far left". I think Republicans AND Democrats... and government officials in general... all suck d*ck.

so I hope that's clear.

You're clear as mud. But if you follow the posts I was making jest of a whine by Beck:

That was my response. Then she responded "don't be absurd, there is no such thing really". Hence my retort(s), thus spinning this thread into a political one. Katrina, bad, yes, no dispute some people are hurting. I will further say that I'm sure there are plenty of job opportunities for the rebuilding etc of various area and there ARE some that would rather have the government give them a handout instead of getting one of those jobs and earn an honest living. Sorry if you felt my spin was NO related, but you are wrong and jumped to conclusions. As for this thread following any specific path or topic, HA.....like any of our threads follow the original intent!

But don't think I'm a heartless conservative, I do feel sorry for some people, but the majority have done it to themselves. BTW, to an earlier post, they spent 180 million to fix up the SuperDome, which cost 160 million to build. Anyway, my comment before seems to have led this down the political path, which is maybe where it belongs.
Loangod... look this post I included. in the very post, you mention the super dome. this thread was talking about New Orleans. No, I am not wrong... nor did I jump to conclusions. it appears you were also talking about New Orleans... not "the country in general".

so instead of feeding a need to classify someone as being wrong or right, or accusing someone of doing something wrong like "jumping to conclusions" or being "far left" etc... how about we agree it was a miscommunication, and stop it right there? I have a feeling that would be best.

This was actually 2 responses to 2 different posts. 1 from Becky, 1 from EO where he said something like they spent 25 million to fix the superdome. That last sentence was in reponse to erroneos info from him. So I will stand by what I have said. Or jumping to conclusion as someone kinda souding like a heartless conservative, don't leave that off rich , I will agree that we disagree.

again... if you read my statement and read your statement, I clearly thought you were referring to New Orleans. I do not know how else to express that other than to make the movie. so the heartless conservative retort was merely a sarcastic comeback, based on what it clearly appeared you were referring to. yes, I see the reference to an earlier post, but in my opinion, it still tied the whole conversation to New Orleans.

but you know what?

since I am clear as mud and jumping to conclusions, and you are standing by that, I'm going to say f*ck it and leave this thread now, because your point is clear as crystal. you are very obviously right, and I am very obviously wrong... whatever the hell that even means in the context of this thread.

he knows. I meant "leave the thread alone", but I was typing too fast. and he is now being a d*ck. he has no intention on PM'ing me... he was poking fun at me "leaving" the thread.

there are days where you really gotta love this place...
