NFC Playoff Picture 2009
I am going to do this election coverage style...
With a little over 50% of the precincts reporting
EO calls the NFC East for the New York Giants 9 and 1
EO calls the NFC West for the Arizona Cardinals
the NFC South too close to call
Carolina 8 and 2
Tampa 7 and 3
Atlanta 6 and 4
the NFC North too close to call
Green Bay 5 and 5
Chicago 5 and 5
Minnesota 5 and 5
WILD CARDS too close to call
Loser of the South
Washington 6 and 4
Dallas 6 and 4

Re: NFC Playoff Picture 2009
NFC EAST
easy to say NY runs away here, but who will be second?
Washington has probably 3 loses left NyG, Balt, and 1 of their away games
@ Seattle
NyG
@ Baltimore
@ Cinncy
Philly
@ San Fran
Dallas needs to beat one of Pitt, NyG, or Balt and to not let Philly spoil their season in the final week
San Fran
Seattle
@ Pitt
NyG
Baltimore
@Philly
TOUGH to predict but Washington would seem the prohibitive favortie if Portis can continue to play

Re: NFC Playoff Picture 2009
NFC South
Carolina after struggling to put away the hapless Lions this week goes on an UGLY stretch.
@ Atlanta
@ Green Bay
Tampa Bay
Denver
@ NY Giants
@ New Orleans
Tampa also battled to the end with an NFC North team hanging on to beat the Vikings and has their own tough road ahead.
@ Detroit
New Orleans
@ Carolina
@ Atlanta
San Diego
Oakland
Atlanta lost a heart breaker to the Broncos and must regroup if they hope to stay in the running much longer but do get the benefit of playing their rivals at home where they have only lost once since late December of last year.
Carolina
@ San Diego
@ New Orleans
Tampa Bay
@ Minn
St Louis
IF Atlanta can win 3 of their next 4 and knock off either Minn or StL; they should be on the way to fulfilling the historical promise that whomeever finished last the year before wins the NFC South.
At a glance I am predicting Tampa to win this.

Re: NFC Playoff Picture 2009
NFC West
IS OVER Arizona by a landslide and none fo the other three teams have a shot at the wild card
the only thing now is can Arizona win enough games to avoid a January trip New York, Green Bay, or Chicago
all of which will be VERY unkind to this warm weather, pass happy team, with fragile QBs and a questionable run game

Re: NFC Playoff Picture 2009
NFC North
Three teams tied for the lead
Green Bay is a head on tie breakers for the minute BUT
@ New Orleans
Carolina
Houston
@ Jacksonville
@ Chicago
Detroit
is not exactly smooth sleeding going forward
Chicago is next in tie breakers and while they could be realing after a horrifc beating by Green Bay luck could be on their side as three of their toughest games are at home and the next hardest game (Minnesota) could be played after two vital opponents players are suspended.
@ Saint Louis
@ Minnesota
Jacksonville
New Orleans
Green Bay
@ Houston
Minnesota lacks the tie breakers but does have Adrian Peterson a.k.a the most dominant offensive force in the NFC if not the NFL. As seen versus Green Bay Peterson can single handedly win a game for the Vikings even when other players screw up.
@ Jacksonville
Chicago
@ Detroit
@ Arizona
Atlanta
NY Giants
If no suspensions occur to cripple the Vikings defense the purple people eaters could be in good shape. Jax and Det are hurting and the final game could easily be against the Giants pre season roster not the studs.
Green Bay has the best overall team.
Chicago the best overall defense
Minnesota the best overall player
too close to call

The Bears D, one could argue, is not the best. The Vikes had 439 yds and 41 pts, the Pack had 427 yds and 37 pts. They seem to be 3rd in the Norse as far as I'm concerned.

I give Chicago the advantage only because of what they did to the Titans
I think the Vikes have a far better line
I think the Packers have a far better secondary
and both are better coached

What the hell did the do against the Titans? They lost, as did the Pack and the Vikes(who fumbled the game away).

they held the Titans to 20 yards total rushing for the game
the Titans are still 7th over all mind you
just struck me as bad arsed
of course Green Bay shoved Ryan Grant up their arse so who knows
