Clarke, why don't you tell us how you really feel.
Especially the part about the Super Bowl champs being the division leader.

Last night only reinforced what I have been saying. I think he found his son's stash last night and got into it before the game.

when you have a WR witht he size of Baskett not having the fade route as a staple inside the 30 is just stupid football
if nothing else run it one time per red zone attempt just to keep the CB looking up so McNabb can maybe steal a cheap TD with his feet.
now that said, at ND, GB, and it looks like the Jets now the fade is a QB/WR hot read. All of those teams (and I am sure more but they are who I watch the most) line up in a run play, indentify 1 on 1 coverage and signal into the fade.
So while I agree Reid is an idiot not callign the play, I impress upon you McNabb could be just as much of an idiot for not adjusting to it. But then I do not know if that is because he cannot mentally audible or if it is because he is not allowed to audible. I suspect it is a case where he is not mentally capable, thus is not allowed. Which brings us back to your comment that if he cannot throw it, he should not be out there. Kolb threw the fade religously in college.

tell me about it... dude... I started Baskett in my pay league, just KNOWING he'd play a role in this game.

at the risk of further infuriating Clarke I would like to remind Andy Reid that Nathan Vasher (how was many times one on one with Baskett) is only 5'10 as are both the safties to that side for Chicago.
Hank Baskett is of course 6'4 and 40 pounds heavier

The trade deadline is not passed yet, perhaps the Vikings will give you a 1st round pick for McNabb, since the only thing they are missing is a QB. But Andy Reid sucks. McNabb, though still good, he is not the game changer he once was. And besides, once you make that change at coach, you have to figure this season is done and McNabb is just too damn expensive next year (14.9 million I think).
So lets start the Kolb era with Lane Kiffin or Al Golden or whomever you choose. Just fire the fat ass today.

that was ugly bro...to jump on the skins 14-0 early..and to have that offensive performance...I don't know...you got to punch it in the end zone from where they were clarke..not 2 weeks in a row man...wasting timeouts on a touchdown that was CLEARLY a touchdown by the throw of randle el...terrible...frustrating to watch...when the eagles are not playing the Steelers..I'm rooting for them...and that pisses me off.

If they can move McNabb they should, even if it is a conditional 4th rounder. That way they can figure out if they have the next guy or not.
Booting Reid is not a bad idea if you do it now both the OCoord and D Coord can be interims until next year.
I think this season is lost and the window is closed. Moving on now prevents falling another year behind the Giants. Who despite everyone hating in Philly have CLEARLY distanced themselves from the rest of the NFC East.
Think of the moral vicotry in firing Reid first (before Phillips) and stealing Jason Garrett from Jerry Jones.
You are welcome to Ted Thompson

seriously the Eagles need some Ted Thompson
he will cull out the aging guys past their prime
trade what is tradeable, cut the rest, and rebuild through the draft
of course you run the risk of him forcing your best player into retirment and replacing him with a fragile wantabe, of him being unable to make a move to help out the team when massive numbers of injuries set in, and him thinking the entire world revolves around him and he does not have to care at all what the fans think.
lucky for Philly if the Packers keep playing like they are, and ole number four keeps looking like the league MVP in New York Thompson will be available after the season.

I would be willing to make Marty Morinwheg the interim Head Coach for the remainder of this season and see how they respond to him ACTUALLY calling the plays without some fat ass pork chop eating moron interfering.
But to make a complete change you probably have to move McNabb too. Send him to Minnesota. I think they could win a SB with him. Or Chicago, but its a new system and too late for this season. He could step into Minny today and start because their system is so similar.
|
see if it was mine I would...
move McNabb now (after the season if you cannot pull the trade before next week's deadline) because he simply is to (if not past) the point of dimenishing returns and you will never be able to get more for him than now. while I do not think McNabb can save the poor defensive system Minnesota is running, he certainly would elevate them on offense enough that AP could take over games.
I would give JJ the interim tag and let Pat Shurmur call plays. A former LB, that has coached Oline, TEs, and QBs from Michigan State having to answer to the DCoord~ no brainer he would use the more run oriented version of the west coast offense.
I get behind the biggest Oline in football and I pound the rock. I stop calling Tony Hunt a fullback, make him the #2 RB, and give him no less that 8 carries a football game, with Klecko in front of him at least half of those. Then I start running delays, counters, and sweeps with Westbrook.
Reid would be first moved to the front office and then replaced at the end of the year. Morhinweg would get the axe.
Tell my oline and RBs that any game we do not run 65 to 75 offensive plays their job is on the line. Which in turn limits the amount of time the undersized defense is on the field allowing them to BLITZ more effectively.
While my way may not happen you KNOW you would love to see it.

I still might give him a chance, unless Lurie KNOWS that everything I said above is wrong and Morihnweg deserves the same blame as Reid.
Westbrook has 2 broken ribs, so I don't know how much pounding he can do, but Buck is not a bad RB, so give him the rock.
|
got nothing against Buck, but Hunt is 10 to 12 pounds heavier and a more punishing back and at one time was the faster of the two as well.
you run an inside outside run game with Hunt and Buck letting Klecko bang on LBs while the bulky oline leans on Dlinemen
work in Westbrook and Booker on the tosses and sweeps after the Lbs are hurting (example Dallas when they bang away with Barber then turn Felix lose outside it is HR after HR)
but having all those big bodies is wasted unless you are running 35 to 40 times a game
