Early prediction for Saturday....Cowboys 35 Eagles 17. Going to be a long offseason for me.

if any other NT gets to say that it is only because Shaun Rodgers is hurt and not in the game
Ratliff is very good but not a player offenses change their entire game plan for (like Rodgers). In fact a good portion of the success Ratliff has is because of teams having to use three men to block Ware.
Rodgers, K. Jenkins, Gregg, maybe Hampton (less every snap it seems)
then comes the next tier of Wilfork, Ratliff, Picket or Raji
of all of them if picking a team going forward I take Raji who is the youngest
but that is not to take anything away from what Ratliff puts out on the field but 300 pound guys are easier to A Gap protect against than 320 and up pounders.

Re: Eagles News
If being double teamed every game isn't being game planned for, with regards to the NT then I don't know what is. What other 3-4 NT gets as many sacks and QB pressures as Ratliff? The Cowboys run defense in the middle is quite good.

And I will acknowledge the fact that the GB Dline is very good.
GB is my pick to represent the NFC in the SB.

an A Gap NT (like all 3/4 are) will be double teamed pretty much by default no matter if they are good or not even in youth leagues
Kelly Gregg gets sacks (also because his OLBs are so game planned for)
Rogers his just a beast of epic propotions
Cole is what 350 pounds? I figured he would out power the smaller guy but instead he got laps ran around him. So much he tweaked his knee and Jean Giles tweaked his ankle. Should make a huge hole up the middle of the OLine.
Can Ratliff do it again is the question?
Romo will not have as easy a game in the next one

Re: Eagles News
They have to be able to stop the rum early in order to get pressure on Romo, the way they did in the second half.
Once Barber wore down, which he usually does, then the Eagles were able to bring more pressure.
But hey Romo only needs to get to 21 to 24 points in games these days. Cowboys D have given up an avg of just over 15pts pergame. 9.5 pts in the last three games.
This years team will go as far as the D will take them. And it does have a hole covering shallow routes accross the middle.

most 3/4 defenses have that hole
hell Rich Gannon won an MVP doing nothing but throwing to that hole against team one year.
the trick is tackling them once they catch it for the defense
the trick for the offense is finding it, throwing it, and catching it ~ all three were big problems for McNutt and Celek yesterday

I want the Eagles to win on Saturday, but I don't think they can. And for that reason, if they are to lose, I want it to be big. 45 to 3 kind of big. With McNabb killing worms and throwing INTs all day long. Then, maybe then, we can move him and get to the Kolb era. Despite all of the big numbers the Eagles offense put up all season long, the only time I remember a receiver getting hit in stride as he flies down the field is when Kolb was manning the healm in weeks 2 and 3. McNabb has not done that in years, if ever. Kolb is the more accurate passer, and for that reason, Kolb is the better passer. Lets end this charade now. McNabb will never win a SB with Reid. Maybe with a team with a better coach, who knows how to hide his deficiencies when he is off, but Reid is not that guy. Reid can possibly win with a QB with a lesser arm, as long as that QB is accurate. Kolb could be that man. McChunk is not.
So I want either a miracle this Saturday or a blowout. A 31-28 loss does me no good. Then Reid and Banner can blame the defense, say McNabb had us in there the whole time, a break here or there and we win by a FG, etc. Anything but lay the blame where it usually lies, at McFatts feet.

but didn't Celelk drop two big 3rd downs that would have extended drives into FG range?
very uncommon for him
the game plan became watered down in the second half
like you I doubt they (or ARZ) came into the game with a weak game plan but once they found themselves down rolled into it.
if the local media is to be believed Philly has not won a game in which they were down 17 in a very long time
I think the trick with Philly is making their LBs run and cover, skills I personally think they lack, and prevent the long play.
Keep the big play guys locked down and McNabb, McCoy, and Celek will not beat you

Re: Eagles News
I think some of what Clarke says may be true with regards to the Defensive game plan being to drop into coverage, thinking that Garret would be expecting the blitz. But 40yds rushing out of Barber on the first few carries of the game may have been part of the reason they didn't use the blitz.
If they "pulled back" in the second half then why did they start blitzing so heavily, not to mention effectively?
JJT asked Reid on a conference call if they held back and Reid told he reporters he couldn't say what he wanted to say to JJT, as if he wanted to rip his head off.

Here are the teams that may want him that he may want to go to:
1) Vikings (If Favre retires)
2) Arizona (If Warner retires - remember, McRib lives in Arizona)
3) Cleveland (Could Holmgren want somebody taught by his protege while the next wasted prospect "learns" from McDick?)
4) SF - closer to McSoup's home; No longer a WC offense, but nice young receiver, good running game, lousy QB. Could be a fit.
5) Seattle - have not seen them this year, do not know if Hasselback is any good anymore, but maybe they are ready for a change.
6) Washington - How in love with Campbell is Shanny? Does he want to draft a new prospect and plug in a QB that would bring an instant upgrade for immediate future?
7) St. Louis - Bulger is done, St. Louis is closer to McFlab's family and to his offseason home
8) Carolina - Is Moore the answer? Delhomme isn't.
I will chip in gas money for McChump to move his stuff out of my state.

These are pretty likely scenarios
I think you have to add the real chance that Marty Mornenweig could be the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns to your breakdown. If that happens (and I am fairly certain it will if Mangini is fired) then you can count on the Browns trading Quinn (to Denver, Minnesota, or Carolina) and going with a veteran QB to mentor the newly drafted Sam Bradford.
Of course in that same scenario it would be McNabb versus Hasslebeck to be the veteran mentor.
Then you have to off set it with the fact Holmgren disciples Marriucci, Gruden, and Childress all still REALLY like Brady Quinn so there is a chance Mornenwieg or Holmgren is in that camp too.
Going to be an interesting off season in Cleveland, one that will have an impact on other teams.
