Tough break for the Pack. The D was somewhat crippled before, this definately cripples them, as you said.

this season 3 guys were holding the packers together
Barnett, Collins, Woodson
Pickett, Hawk, and Harris have battled injuries
Kampman is triple blocked on passing downs
Bigby and Rouse both play well but cannot be on the field
like I said int he chat box it is time for the Packers D to get creative and I think the Shurmer BIG nickle is the answer

You think that would improve the run D?

if you thought Rodgers had a deer look into the headlights face before, wait till you see him constantly playing catup when the pack d gets behind in stopping opponents

the Big nickle worked in Arizona a little with much smaller safeties than Aaron Rouse
if basically would move Rouse (or Bigby) to the line of scrimmage and make the QB decide blitz or dropping in his pre snap read
if executed correctly it would allow more 5 to 6 yard runs but eliminate 30 and 40 yard runs
at least two coaches in Green Bay were on the team with Fitz Shurmer was in GB (Campen and Bennett) and both played against the Big nickle when Shurmer broke it out in Ariz
Jerry Hairston, Lionel Washington, and CEO Mark Murphey would have played against the Big Nickle too. Hell Murphey would have seen it twice a year in Washington

Re: Packers News
Starting SoLB Brandon Chillar
Starting WoLB AJ Hawk
Back up MLB Desmond Bishop
all have been taking snaps at MLB with the first team defensive unit for the Green Bay Packers.
and it sounds like Hawk will start in the middle this weekend
Chillar will play the SoLB and Poppinga the WoLB
so we shall see

Re: Packers News
a funny thing happened to the Bears on their way to the division title
They got the SNOT KICKED OUT OF THEM in Green Bay by the Packers
now they are all knotted up at 5-5
Green Bay and Chicago are tied with 3 and 1 Division records
so that puts the Packers (by virtue of their defeat of Chicago) in 1st place in the NFC Norse
YEAH BABY!
Did I mention 37 to 3 margin of victory probably means GB holds the head to head tie breaker even if Chicago wins the second game
Green Bay still needs to handle up on their business the rest of the way to have a shot, but they are in the running for the Division again.
@ New Orleans
Carolina
Houston
@ Jacksonville
@ Chicago
Detroit
Figure they need to win a minimum of 4 of these which will NOT be easy.

Re: Packers News
So much for that great pass D. I know I've said it before, but alot of the reason they have given up few yds in that area is because of the success teams have running the ball on the Pack. Of course it was Brees, but that was a pathetic display by the Pack. They have a good pass D, but not great like someone here thinks.....

Re: Packers News
That's the kind of game that makes you quit watching football for the rest of the season and focus on the draft.
