Default 2009 Season / 2010 Super Bowl Prediction Thread

Okay, I know, its only February 13. Pitchers and Catchers have not even reported yet in MLB. Free Agency hasn't even started in the NFL, and the Draft frenzy has not begun. But tell me, based on whatever, who do you see in the SB next year? Or the playoffs. I think it might be neat to see what we say now, then in April after the bulk of free agency is over and the draft is done, and then again at the end of training camp, then finally, what really happens.

So here are my picks:

NFC East
Eagles win

NFC South
Falcons win
Panthers WC
Saints WC

NFC North
Vikings win

NFC West
49ers win

AFC East
Pats win

AFC South
Titans win
Colts WC

AFC North
Steelers win

AFC West
Chargers win
Raiders WC

AFC Championship Game
Patriots over Chargers

NFC Championship Game
Eagles over Falcons

Super Bowl
Patriots over Eagles

That's today....now, if the Eagles do not go and plug their Oline, as I suspect they will, and do not get another CB, as I think they will, and Abiamiri is hurt again, which depletes the DE spot, and they do not get a letitimate RB to compliment Westbrook, which I think they finally will, then the Eagles won't even make the playoffs.

I think the Vikings will finally invest in a QB, but if they don't, forget about it, Bears in that division.

I think the Giants will have a down year, but only if they do not invest in another big time receiver (reports are Burress definitely wants out). If they go and get that receiver, then they will secure at least the WC, if not the Division.

Cards don't sniff the playoffs this year, but Leinert will get a chance to prove that he is an NFL player, and if he is, they will be back in the hunt in 2010.

Lots of ifs.

AFC East Dolphins
Pats
Bills
Jets

AFC North Steelers
Bengals
Ravens
Browns

AFC South Indy
Titans
Jags
Texans

AFC West Chargers
Broncos
Raiders
Chiefs

NFC East Cowboys
Giants
Eagles
Redskins

NFC North Vikings
Packers
Bears
Lions

NFC South Atlanta
Saints
Tampa Bay
Carolina

NFC West Cardinals
49ers
Rams
Seahawks

I will look closer in one month, then after the draft I will figure draft results and schedule effects.

Steelers win the SB, will fill in the rest of the playoffs after the draft.

The only thing I see the Eagles going to is the Senior citizens bowl. Saints against the Pats or Chargers.

ok, OTAs are pretty much over, and training camps don't start for a month and a half. This six week stretch is the toughest to overcome in terms of NFL news. I offer my updated predictions for AT members to pick apart.

AFC

East
Dolphins
Bills
Pats The rest of the division has caught up to the Pats tight races
Jets

North
Steelers
Bengals I think they will be much stronger this year
Ravens Sophmore jinx for Flacco, and new DC has trouble with fewer star players
Browns

South
Indy (Peyton started last year out hurt, back strong this year)
Titans (this is a differant team w/o Haynesworth)
Texans
Jags

West
Chargers (The only strong team in the division)
Raiders
Broncos
Chiefs

NFC

East
Eagles
Giants
Cowboys
Redskins

North
Chicago
Packers
Vikings
Lions

South
Saints (I am liking the better defense to go with thier strong offense)
Falcons (They sneek up on no one this year)
Bucs
Panthers

West
Seattle
49ers
Cardinals (suffer traditional SB loser slump)
Rams

Playoffs
AFC

AFCC Steelers vs Colts Steelers win

best of the rest

Bills, Dolphins, Chargers, Pats

NFC

NFCC
Eagles vs Saints Eagles to the Super Bowl (and lose again)

best of the rest

Seattle, Falcons, Giants, Chicago

not ready to mine up just yet... but just for fun, I'll talk about what I agree with and don't agree with on yours!

AFC East - I agree with the Dolphins pick. Not so sure about the Bills though. I am not convinced. I still say the Pats will be second here, at the moment. The Bills and Jets are hard to call... I expect the Jets D to be MUCH better, but can they score? and even with TO... the Bills are... well... the Bills. I wonder how long it is before the TO grenade explodes this time.

AFC North - You know what, I think you may hit this one spot on, actually.

AFC South - I think I like the Colts too. if the Texans can ever get out of 8-8 land, it would be nice... but I won't hold my breath. the Jags added some interesting pieces in the offseason... their games against the Titans will be critical. I will agree with your prediction here, but note that I am awfully unsure about this division (one reason why I am not predicting yet... I need training camp... LOL...)

AFC West - Yep... Chargers. after that, who knows? each of the remaining teams have such glaring weaknesses, that anything can happen. Training camp! LOL...

NFC East - once again, I think you hit it spot on. The Skins were so classless about how they handled the QB situation in the offseason, that I am actually hoping Campbell plays lights out, then refuses to sign with them at the end of the season... justice would be served!

NFC North - whew... talk about a tough division to call. I think I will call you spot on here. I think the bears have the most complete situation here. The Pack will suffer from learning a complicated new defensive system, and the Vikings somehow, in a year with Cutler on the trading block, Leftwich, Garcia, and hell... even Grossman (yep... I said it...) in free agency, this idiots STILL managed to only get Rosenfels??? and don't get me started with Favre...

NFC South - Who finished last, last season? Okay... their first this year then. this division is crazy. I have no clue who wins it. just know it won't be the Bucs.

NFC West - Sheesh. picking this division is depressing. Um... I think I still like the Cards, but yeah... they are the Cards, so I don't trust 'em. put 'em in a box, shake it up, and pick 'em. I'm still undecided. LOL...

What can I say, I love what the Eagles did this offseason. I am also surprised by the Cards. They did not suffer nearly as many losses as I suspected that they would during the offseason, and I like their draft.

The only thing that I believe could change this, outside of injuries, is Favre signing with the Vikings and being healthy/effective, but that will only change who the Eagles beat in the NFC Championship.
