What I am trying to say is, no matter how you look at the stats, no matter how superior the Steelers look, they too can lose to the Cards.
not sure if that was meant for me, or just a general statement, but I hope it has been very clear in the vast majority of my posts in regards to this super bowl, that I am not assuming a victory over the cardinals. I respect them and Kurt Warner. if they sucked, they would not be in this game.

I cannot speak for others. that is just my view.

I think the Cards are over their heads and got lucky to make it to the Super Bowl. They are over hyped, and will stall against the Steelers D. Warner will struggle, and the Cards do not have a good backup plan in case he gets hurt. I do not expect the Steelers to lay off in the third quarter, afterr they have imposed their will on the Cards. This will not be a blowout, but it will not be close.

I certainly hope you are right. all I hope for at the end of the day is when the clock says zero, our score is higher than theirs!

I remember the Bills and Giants facing each other with backups in the game, but their starters were both hurt PRIOR to the game and didn't even dress. No, that is a ridiculous statement. You telling me that Byron Leftwich is a much better player than Leinert? There is a reason backups are backups...they either have less talent than the starter, have failed as a starter, or are young and learning. If Ben Roethlescheeseburger were to get hurt, you would be just as screwed. Come up with something more realistic.
while I do believe that Leftwich is better than Leinart right now, that is largely due to game experience, more so than talent level. we really can't know that until they are both starters somewhere... which has a chance to happen next year.

that said, I hope we do not have to find out about backup plans.

and I hope the Cards stay healthy... I am one of those guys that like to be the oponent at full strength, so there are no excuses.

man... I am nervous. I wish the game was today... LOL... I cannot wait. having a huge SB party too... so hopefully my steelers can pull it out get title no. 6, and not embarrass me in front of all my company! LOL...

I believe that if both teams were going into the game with their backups, the Steelers have the advantage because of his experience, but if it happened during the game, where one of the starting QBs went down, then it doesn't matter, because that offensive units whole timing is now off from what they prepared. Too big of a situation. Not unwinnable, but definitely more difficult.

But again, when was the last time a starting QB went down in the SB?
well, as I have said... I am hoping not to have to deal with any backup plan anyway. I agree with what you have said about Leftwich. I just say that as little as he has accomplished so far in the NFL, Leinart has accomplished even less. he not only has not been able to unseat Warner... Warner unseated him. with little controversy. Leinart's poor play took care of that. in Jacksonville, it was more of a controversial thing, where Leftwich and Garrard played close as far as success rate, during the competition. was Leftwich a Del Rio draft pick? can't remember. that may have played a role if he was not.

anyway, do not get me wrong. I, for one, am not on the "disregard the Cardinals" thing. I believe if a team made it to the SB, then they could also win it. hopefully, the steelers go to that game focused and ready, and do not underestimate this team. I think we are better than them... but I think they can beat us, like any team in the NFL can beat anybody, on any given day.

despite my trash talk about the Brownstains never winning our division! LOL...

just how does aa team make it this far.....to the SB, for goodness sake....
only to have you say they "got lucky"?

How many times did they get lucky?
When they made it to the playoffs?

The first game out?
the second?

For goodness sakes at least give the team the respect they deserve.
They have looked GOOD in post season....and LUCK had ZERO to do w/ it

Heck, the Falcons were more playoff tested than the Cards when they went to Arizona. No, at this point it comes down to making plays, and both teams know the other teams strengths and weaknesses, and are prepared for them. I remember the last time the point spread was as far apart as it is now....last season. The Giants were "in over their heads" in that one too. And in 2003, when the Bucs were double digit dogs against the Raiders, who had the NFL MVP at QB I believe....that ended up being a romp, right? Except it was the team that was "in over its head", the one that had zero SB experience as a franchise, going against the team that was 3-1 in past Super Bowls, with the 2 Hall of Famers at WR, that had the veteran running attack to set up the passing game, that had the Hall of Fame free safety leading its defensive attack.

The comparisons of 2003 to today is eerily similar. And you think its going to be easy? So did the Raiders.

Go CARDS.
Go Clarke.....since you already said it...I don't have to.

Lets talk about Lucky. Won their Division with a 9-7 record. The other three division teams in the NFC West are in the top ten of the draft order. The Cardinals have the worst record for a Super Bowl team since 1985, and a little research will tell you the out come of the Super Bowl for that team was not pretty. The Bears spanked the Patriots. The Cardinals did have some impressive playoff wins. Being able to play at home as the number 4 seed is luck. The Cardinals beat the Panthers sure, but to have the Giants and Vikings also lose meant the improbable home field advantage for the Cards in the NFCC.

As far as my comment on the Cards having no plan at backup qb. I was thinking about last year when leinart broke his collarbone. Leinart was a good college QB, but is not experienced enough at winning NFL games. He is an adaquate backup, so I retract my comment about no backup qb plan.

I still do not respect the Cardinals enough to be remotely worried about their beating the Steelers. They have a great passing attack, but the overall team strengths are not enough to beat the Steelers. I do not see this as a close game, with the Steelers having a double digit differance in the winning score. I stand by my prediction of Steelers 35, Cardinals 24. For you nay sayers, put up your prediction.
