hidden in the lack of a CBA is the fact that the NFL and NFLPA agreement to hold an NFL draft ends in 2011
with no new CBA the draft would not exist
ordinarily I would agree with you guys but with TWO new leagues vying to start the NFLPA would be smart to have at least one year with out a draft
it would make EVERY incoming college senior free agents able to shop themselves freely to all three leagues
Jimmy Clausen was the most sought after high school QB in 20 years, than 4 years as a starter and over TV exposure at Notre Dame, and he comes out to no draft just free bidding on a QB that was 6'3 210 pounds in high school?
Joe McKnight was a 6'1 200 pound high school tailback USC recruited because he had the speed of Reggie Bush and the power of LenDale White. Advance four years and probably at least one national championship later in the premier pro fotball factory in the nation?
These two kids alone could net RECORD breaking professional sports salaries as rookies in that market. Salaries CC Sabathia and ARod would say OH DAMN too.
So if they pay a rookie 300 million, what are they going to say when Eli Manning and his two Super Rings (if not more) wants $600?
at to that the fact the NFL is trying to CAP rookie salaries and the NFLPA has NO reason to want the draft to happen
Jerry Jones pulled all these things because he wanted to be able to gaurantee a championship the first year in his new stadium.
But the only force in pro sports more powerful than him is going to use it to kick the ceiling down on players contracts.
