Re: At the Half
I was nto sure where to put this so here it goes
a couple of weeks ago I told you all about one of the best games I ever saw a 3/4 NT play
this week we saw two more
Kris Jenkins was completely dominant in the Jets win over NE his 3 tackles and 1 sack DO NOT properly illustrate how much he took ownership over the NE Oline
and last night
Jay Ratliff was OMNI-PRESENT in the Cowboys victory over Washington his own line of 6 tackles and 2 sacks seems AWESOME but even it does not paint the picture. Ratliff was breaking up plays in the back field, defending passes, and on one play caught Ladell Betts from behind to prevent a first down.
These performances were AWESOME especially when you consider these are VERY LARGE MEN employeed more for their ability eat up space than make plays. We have seen three NTs step to the fore front this year basically re-writing what the position can be and two of them (Rodgers in Cle and Jenkins in NyJ) had never played the position before.
I would like to mention two other men as well
James Harrison had 4 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT, 1 forced fumble, and created a safety in a game where his team won by 1 point. It was a DOMINANT game changing and possibly division winning performance.
Charles Woodson eliminated any threat Chicago thought of having in the passing game. He literally just ERASED whomever was on his side of the field. He also had 4 tackles and a sack.
I want you to remember those 5 names
Harrison
Jenkins
Woodson
Ratlif
Rodgers
because if ANY ONE but one of those five men win the defensive player of the year it is a travesity of justice. They are ALL turning in seasons of EPIC defensive play.

in the safety play you mention, Harrison caused the fumble, and Woodley tackled the Charger who recovered it. These two OLBs, are the major force to be reckoned with with the Steelers defense. You can't simply double team one of them, as both of them are in a race for the QB. Woodley was doing well in pass coverage as well. I am not ready to call Woodley DPOY, but is is very probably the Colts would not have won their matchup against the Steelers, if Woodley had played.

Nice post.
Not to take anything away from Ratliff, but his more natural position will be at DE, which he should if the Cowboys can find a fat body to put at NT.
Ratliff doesn't always hold up at the point of attack in run defense because for a NT he's kind of small. He has to eat his ass off to be above 300lbs if he is at all. The fact he plays as big as he does, considering how small he is, is amazing.

Re: At the Half
If you don't think Harrison isn't the best defensive player int he NFL,then just ask him. What is it that playing OLB in Pitt, makes someone a loud mouth?

I know what you mean, almost as bad as the Cowboys on Hardknocks, and then can't back up their bragging, boasting, or what ever you want to call it.

at the start of the season the Cowboys, with Jerry Jones hand picked boys of glory, were supposed to be unbeatable, and the lone NFC contender for the super bowl. The hype on the Cowboys was tremendous. The Cowboys have not lived up to their hype.
As hard as Jerry tries, he can not buy a super bowl
and you worry about the Rooney's
