Nfl NFL to LA News

fresh off of talks with Commish Tags Arnold gave a quote suggestign the talks about the NFL to California are anything but dead...

"We are talking of having a fourth [NFL team] at the Coliseum in Los Angeles, maybe the fifth in Anaheim...adding that he is "from Los Angeles" and that the Coliseum is a "great state property," adding that "while I'm the governor, I'd like to see the first game at the Coliseum."

...somebody said something in that meeting to make Arnold think football was coming

Commissh Tags announces from LA city Hall that the City and the NFL has reached an agreement on the NFL's return to LA.

No team names or scenarios where worked out but the NFL is cleared to play in the Collesium

so LA Saints in 2007

Minnesota quicker?

Jacksonville?

expansion?

If its at the Colesium, it's one of the worst business decisions I've seen in my life time for two reasons. 1. LA has showed no interest in a football team from the consumer level. 2. They are proposing a team in a stadium that is a proven loser. Tags, is doing the only thing he can in trying to make his promise to the networks come true despite the fact that history shows it is a proven loser.

I think the use of the Colesiuem thing is tied to the Governor's office as it is a stet owned property so the State will received a margin of profit

It is flawed because sure 4.5 annual looks good BUT the state (unless they under take a Green Bay like situation) will end up splitting that with the owner and have to pay overhead from it.

It is almost a they did not read the small print thing to me

in my opinion they are the best team to move

Minnesota cannot host a super bowl, the stadium is in shambles, it is not a late season visit spot

The Colliseum Commission giving up the dream?

Even as it said it was not closing the door on the NFL, the Coliseum Commission took steps Wednesday to scale back the money spent in that pursuit.

In its regular monthly meeting, the commission dropped its contracts with outside legal counsel and $10,000-per-month lobbyist Richard Lichtenstein, who were retained for the last three years to pursue a potential NFL deal.

This is a result of two things...

one the NFL has cooled on moving to the LA area in an existing building (why would they not when Aneheim is talking about a billion dollar structure)

two the colliseum lease agreement with USC is up in 2007 and the Trojons are seriously considering re-locating meaning the Colliseum would then be completely vacant.
