The Hot Seat...
In honor of the yearly ritual, I thought I would kick start the conversation... and so, here is my perception of Coaches on the Hot Seat... agree or disagree, or add some more... comment away (I numbered them, but I do not have them an any particular order other than as I think of them):
1. Jeff Fisher - When your owner says "I will not fire him during the season"... well... he pretty much just fired you.
2. Tom Coughlin - The franchise has the QB they believe in... the players on the team seem to believe in him... and the overall perception at this point is someone is holding them back. You guessed it. This team is dangerously on the edge of collapse.
3. Dennis Green - New stadium... check. New QB of the future... check. Dynamic, ticket selling RB... check. Two of the best WRs in the game today... check. An up and comer at TE... check. Bad Oline or not, if Denny doesn't at least find a way to get this team to a wild card berth... or at least a winning record... in a weak division like the West, I am afraid his return will come to an abrupt end.
4. John Gruden - There is a chance the loss of Chris Simms can save him... not that THAT was going very well in the first place. but if these guys continue to lose, something is going to explode... and what is the deal with the Cadillac?
5. Art Shell - Randy Moss had one catch for 5 yards, in a perfectly winnable game against a not-so-impressive Browns team. Uh... yeah... that's some A1 coaching right there.
Just missed... Jim Mora - Sure... the Falcons are 3-1, and everything is great. I'm just saying they better not collapse. That would be bad... for Jim. BTW... anyone notice they finally stopped trying to turn Vick into Joe Montana, and just said do what you do? You drafted Mike Vick, ATL... let him be Mike Vick, and good things happen...

one thing I will say about #5 on your list is that Al Davis knows 1st hand that no one else will take that job so Shell is probably safe by default.
I would submit two more just misses...
Bill Parcells no playoffs no job
Marty Schottenhiemer ditto

Does that mean no need to change the Packers coach, as everybody is used to them losing?

Marty has been verified to be the Chargers coach for "2006" by their President. Thing is, both could be canned by the Chargers owner. Same thing in the Titans.

I hope they do and bring in Jeff Fisher after he's canned. Oh, what it's like to dream..... but we're stuck with mr. 3rd and long draw play boy.

I strongly believe if the Bolts make the playoffs, much less actually win a playoff game, it will be mucho difficulto to fire Marty.
That said... this is the same team that canned a 3 time Pro Bowl QB in favor of an unproven first round QB, and blamed it on an arm injury after playing him in a meaningless game at the end of last season, as opposed to getting said QB some snaps.
but hey... looks like so far it worked out.

I think Gruden is gone no matter what.
I think Green gets one more year.
Does it matter who coaches Oakland?
How soon until Martz puts the knife in Marinelli's back?
I think Gibbs could be retired if they finish below 500.
