Hey!! That was clarke that said that not me. Marty always wears out his welcome....just getting to the POs is his MO. He needs to get to the SB if he would like to stay.

far as Marty remember the main reason Eli did not want to go to San Deigo is because both the owner and Marty told Archie that Marty was not long for the job and Archie did not want to see the coaching door revolve early in Eli's career like it did in his own.

Of course the irony might be that NY actually unloads their coach first.

It is a wild domino type deal

Carolina is aging and Fox might want to run out before so it looks like they declined because Fox left. Or Fox might see it that Gamble and Peppers are all that matters EVERY ONE else is replaceable.

I think it all revolves around San Deigo, if they jetison Shottenheimer then there is a chance. Fox probably would not entertain offers from anyone else and I am sure Chower would not.

On the same note I think if Detroit or Tampa (maybe even NY again) dangles the GM/Head Coach job Tuna might leave.

If Lovie Smith can go to Dallas (or even more so Houston) I think he will.

It is fun.

Chicago would be stupid to do much short of asking Smith to wrote his own check. As would Carolina and Pittsburgh.

Here is another curve if Jacksonville becomes LA (which looks more and more likely every day) will the very blue colar Del Rio want any part of that at all?

Del Rio would be another strong canidate for Dallas should the Tuna retire move on.

I just hope after the shake up and D Cord is left for Green Bay, maybe even a D Cord named Ryan.

Fox has also coached for the Raiders, Steelers, and Giants all of whom possibly could be looking a new head coach.

Also there is some under lying current that Carolina would be the ODDS on favorite to land a certain head coach contemplating retirement because his family now lives in Carolina.

So if Fox got huge dollars to go home, Carolina could then give huge dollars to Bill Chower to coach next to his little girls school and his new house.

Jon Gruden is from Ohio and his wife is from Tennessee, a former Vols cheerleader in fact. Tennessee is also the first coaching job Gruden ever had. Both Cleveland and Tennessee might be looking a new head coach.

Lovie Smith is from Texas, in fact his wife and family still reside in Texas and the Cowboys might need a new head coach.

Jeff Fisher still freely admits he is a Bears fan. The former Bear was Walter Payton's roomate and is a strong tie to the past.

All this of course public knowledge stuff but when you look at it in that perspective you never know.
here is my take... no sources, just all gut feeling.

Fox isn't going anywhere... cowher retiring or not. I firmly believe that:

a) Fox will be in Carolina for quite awhile longer, and

b) Cowher... should he retire... will take a season or two away from coaching to recharge his batteries.

Lovie ain't leavin' Chi-town just yet. they love him there.

I am not so certain about Gruden's fate, although given his very sketchy history with QB's, I would be surprised to see Tennessee bring him in to coach their prized possession, Vince Young.

Bears fan or not, I want to duly note right here, that should Billick end up out in Bmore, Fisher is my current favorite to land the job.

oh... and given my very nice feel for my team... and I would bet strules and st1 would agree... you will definitely see either Whisenhunt or Grimm become head coach before Fox. it is simply the steeler way. the only reason why no one from Noll's staff got to head coach the team is because we were pretty bad by the time he called it quits. it is pretty wild that Tom Moore... the Colts Ocoord... was once an offensive coach in Pittsburgh during Bradshaws years, huh?

I will give Marty credit... he is apparently no idiot. he has unleashed Rivers and the passing game. if the Bolts make the playoffs and win just one playoff game, he returns... no way the GM can fire him, imo... but then again, they are the Bolts. they seem to screw it up more often then they get it right... so stay stuned...

We could lose both Grim and Whiz to HC positions. Just like what happened in NE.

that is true... but I think only if Cowher is going to be around for awhile longer. I think if he signs a new contract in the offseason, then that could really happen... but if he does not, I really think Whisenhunt in particular, would stick around for the final year, expecting to be promoted. that way, Ben would not have to deal with a guy coming in, installing an entirely different offense. should be interesting to see what happens.

Denny Green

Marty Shottenhiemer

Joe Gibbs

Brian Billick

Art Shell

I am starting to get curious when can we start actually saying Nick Saban? Miami has spent a lot of money on his team the last two years and have very very little to show for it. The flip side is some very cushy NCAA jobs are coming where Nick could go be a God like figure again.

after the Oakland fiasco, which followed immediately the Chicago fiasco, I think it is safe to say Denny is a goner.
