I was thinking along the lines that the offense is not the barn burner Jones is expecting, so he may not want to hand over the reigns to Garrett just yet. If Garrett stock drops enough to a point he is not a prime candidate for a HC gig, then Jones may not be inclined to pay him HC money to stay, but still kepp him as an OC. Based on that, and a potential Capt Green Green's replica replacement, Cowher would have to be considered a candidate. Then the question is would Jones cut Cowher a Parcell's like deal. Keep in mind how quick Jones has been in the past to pull the plug on a HC.

I think its a valid point... even given the huge amount of money he has invested in Garrett. but I still think I'd be surprised to see Cowher take the job. but it would be interesting though. the more I think about it, the more interesting it seems actually.

that said, Cowher really does not come off to me as the type that could work with the way Jones likes to run things... but heck... your right... I once could not see Parcells ever being there either... stranger things have happened, that's for sure!

I do not think Cowher will be going anywhere he cannot have complete control, Dallas certainly does not fit that billing.

I think Cowher would only go back to coaching for one of three (maybe 4) jobs, in order

1. NC State Wolfpack ~ Tom O'Brien is 2 years into his coaching stint there and is a total of 7 and 10 with this years team being significantly worse than last years. Probably has this year and next to show a turn around. Which would allow Cowher another year off, before returning to the school where both he and his wife were letter winning varsity athletes. Of course NC State is in Raliegh about 2 miles jogging from Cowhers newly build mansion.

2. Carolina Panthers ~ The Panthers are 4 and 2 and were playing very well in John Fox's win or go home season. If being throttled by a injury riddled Bucs team is an indication of what is to come this job could be had. The GM is also on the hot seat and could be fired before Fox.

3. Cleveland Browns ~ A team stacked with talent that cannot seem to put it together and win football games. The browns need a dominant defensive pressence to right the ship. With many 3/4 pieces and a young QB this team would be a very good fit for Cowher EXCEPT it being in Ohio.

4. Philadelphia Eagles ~ Another under achieving team that needs a new look at defense and a HC not afraid to pound the football. This is another team that Cowher formerly played for so he could have some ties to bring him back. Philly would not be as far from Raliegh NC as the Cleveland.

look this over again with the thoughts of the rumor Cowher bought a home in Cleveland possibly being true

I am bringing back this thread.

I am not Justin timberlake and this thread aint sexy so we will just say

I bringing STINKY back, these coaches suck and thats a fact...

Ok, and now for today's REEEEEEEEEAlly big SHOOW...

Detroit Lions ~ Rod Marinelli odds 100%
this team tired to can the GM as a fix now the rest must go

Kansas City Chiefs ~ Herm Edwards odds 50%
GM Peterson is bullet proof and he loves Edwards, both suck but that might not be enough

Seattle Seahawks ~ Mike Holmgreen odds 100%
Holmgreen was leaving any way

St Louis Rams ~ Scott Linehan FIRED Jim Haslett 100%
They fired the head coach and promoted the D Coord, the team still sucks if not sucks more.

Cincinnati Bengals ~ Marv Lewis odds 100%
The highest profile ex-Bengal was on national TV saying the entire franchise must change. Paul Browns' kid is not a chip off the old block but he knows things are not right. Giving control of this mess to Collingsworth both shuts him up and gives the franchise a chance.

Oakland Raiders ~ Lane Kiffen FIRED Tom Cable 50%
Not many coaches want to work for Al Davis. Cable HAS improved the team and beat the Bronocs whom Davis hates more than anyone else. I think the "Cable Guy" has a chance to get fired next year instead fo this year.

San Fransico 49ers ~ Mike Nolan FIRED Mike Singletary 0%
Outside fo maybe three players the 49ers are devoid of talent and most people see that. Singletary has risent he level of play greatly since taking the helm. Good things are comign to Singletary and the 49ers are along for the ride.

Cleveland Browns ~ Romeo Crenel 100%
This team has floundered away with talented players under performing, the coach has damaged the long term development of two young QBs with flip flops, and they are wasting a career year by Shaun Rodgers on defense. The fans are chanting Cohwer and I think they will get their wish.

Houston Texans ~ Gary Kubiak 10%
The team still is not better but Kubiak is still loved locally and injuries should buy him another year.

Jacksonville Jaguars ~ Jack Del Rio 50%
Another disappointing season of injuries, under performing players, and no passign game. If Del Rio survives it is because the injuries buy him a short stay of execution. This team needs an offensive mind and it could be Del Rio follows his former teamate Jeff Fisher somewhere.

San Diego Chargers ~ Norv Turner 75%
Turner took over when the team did not like losing every year in the playoffs under Marty ball. Well now they are not even goign to make the playoffs despite one of the most complete 53 man rosters talent wise in football. I suspect Norv's time is up.

Philadelphia Eagles ~ Andy Reid 100%
He lost his understanding of the game. He lost some of his players and now he is losing a lot of football games. Philly needs to re-fit into a new style, one more condussive to their foul weather home and division rivals.

Minnesota Vikings ~ Brad Childress 60%
One of the best defenses in football and the best running game in football but still the vikes will have trouble contending for the division againt hsi season. Like Reid in Philly some West Coast coaches never have adapted to NFL defenses catching up to the scheme.

Indianapolis Colts ~ TonY Dungy 100%
Tony said he was leaving and I suspect he does after a down and up season. This team is aging fast and it may not be long before they are too old for Peyton Manning's arm can bail them out.

I do not expect any other teams to entertain removing their coaches although some coaches might entertain leaving their clubs.

Jon Gruden ~ Has made very Nick Saban statements about not leaving the NFL to reign on high in the SEC. Of course so did Saban before bolting to Alabama and Saban did not even have a cheerleader wife from the school or own land down the street.

Wade Phillips ~ Has done enough that firing him would cause some flack, but I do not put it past Phillips to see the hand writing and "retire" on his own for one season before becoming a D Coord again somewhere.

Jeff Fisher ~ Dream job, dream season right? Yeah but this might be an example of a few veterans helping some youngsters way out play their potential. Kearse, Mawae, Collins, Bulluck, Vanden Bosch, Harper, and Thornton are all a lot closer to being finished than fresh. Add to that the 98% chance that Albert Haynesworth is goign to be chasing dollars in jerry world or Lil Danny Synerville this off season and well Fisher has had the Titans get old on him once already. If his alma matta USC sees their head coach go pro then Jeff Fisher will become the new exhaulted on high grand pooba of Trojanville. The Titans also are very likely to lose Jim Schwartz but they get to keep him if Fisher moves on.

Don't count on Peterson being bulletproof. With Lamar in the ground, his son works on a differant schedule. Herm has not done anything to keep his job either.

I am not sure Norv is going to be fired. look at how the refs have burnt the Chargers, and look at the number of games he lost by less than a touchdown. He is missing Merriman, which I expect is the key to the poor defense play seen from the Chargers.

so with the owners trying to get a new football PALACE built by tax payers in San Diego and avoid being forced to Los Angeles

you think Turner can look them in the eye and say, well we just could not recover from losing Merriman and get a pass?

I think some coaches will try the injury card and some might even get away with it but I think any coaches that try it with only one missing player are going to be met with...

"Gauldarned New England lost Gauldarned Tom Brady and they still might make/made the Gauldarned playoffs." use your own term of endearment instead of gauldarned

San Diego and Minnesota are two teams in dire need of productive seasons now as they are both trying (unsuccessfully) to get new stadiums built.

The Chargers are still in good shape to win the AFC West.

Consider that oakland trounced thee broncos, and that the Chargers play the broncos the last game of the season. Not alot needs to be filled in between.

The Chargers play Atlanta, Oakland, K.C., T. Bay, Denver

The Broncos play Jets, K.C. Carolina, Buffalo, and San Diego.

My money is on the Chargers. Consider the Broncos already got beat bad by K.C., won against the Chargers becuase of the refs, and are struggling worse than the Chargers at Defense. In a tie, the Chargers likely win the tie breaker.
