still a lot of speculation about Gibbs going back to racing full time next year no matter what
and some speculation that Danny Snyder would hand Bill Chower the check book to fill out his own salary if so.

Can anyone believe that it was only in January of 2003, that BOTH Oakland and Tampa were on top....and duking it out in the Super Bowl????
they've both fallen a long ways since then.....

Looking at it a little differently, Gruden squeezed blood from a stone and now they are just old and used up.....perhaps his great coaching made both teams surpass their abilities for as long as their average talents let them.

whether he got it out of them through great coaching or brow beating is debatable but what is not is that either way it had the same end result they are spent and have nothing left to give.
Some is age but the reoccuring themes in both camps...
Misses along the offensive lines. Misses on draft picks, on veterans, on free agents...
Both teams have good defensive cooridnators but not the correct talent to run that coordinators system
niether team believed investing money in a QB was needed.

1. Jeff Fisher - When your owner says "I will not fire him during the season"... well... he pretty much just fired you.
2. Tom Coughlin - The franchise has the QB they believe in... the players on the team seem to believe in him... and the overall perception at this point is someone is holding them back. You guessed it. This team is dangerously on the edge of collapse.
3. Dennis Green - New stadium... check. New QB of the future... check. Dynamic, ticket selling RB... check. Two of the best WRs in the game today... check. An up and comer at TE... check. Bad Oline or not, if Denny doesn't at least find a way to get this team to a wild card berth... or at least a winning record... in a weak division like the West, I am afraid his return will come to an abrupt end.
4. John Gruden - There is a chance the loss of Chris Simms can save him... not that THAT was going very well in the first place. but if these guys continue to lose, something is going to explode... and what is the deal with the Cadillac?
5. Art Shell - Randy Moss had one catch for 5 yards, in a perfectly winnable game against a not-so-impressive Browns team. Uh... yeah... that's some A1 coaching right there.
Just missed... Jim Mora - Sure... the Falcons are 3-1, and everything is great. I'm just saying they better not collapse. That would be bad... for Jim. BTW... anyone notice they finally stopped trying to turn Vick into Joe Montana, and just said do what you do? You drafted Mike Vick, ATL... let him be Mike Vick, and good things happen...
|
Update:
1. Jeff Fisher - As good as gone... a reunion may be in the making for next season... stay tuned...
2. Tom Coughlin - A win against Dallas on Monday Night might remove him from this list... a loss will solidify him on it. I just have a sense the players on this team have not all bought into his program.
3. Dennis Green - Monday night collapse, NOT good. They better have an impressive few weeks and end the year no worse than .500, or Ol' Denny is a goner. Still might be even then.
4. John Gruden - I have a feeling he will be back. So for now, he's off the list.
5. Art Shell - This team is out of control. I'll be surprised if he returns.
New Members:
6. Brian Billick - Fassell was the first to go, but if the Ravens continue to collapse... and they have a great chance of doing that against a now fired up Panthers team this week... this guy will be next out the door. And you gotta know that with McNair/Mason/Rolle on the roster, the Titan reunion just may continue with the hiring of Jeff Fisher next season... oh, and since his team used to be in this division, he's pretty familiar with the other teams in it to boot.
7. Joe Gibbs - He will not be fired... but if the Redskins complete their apparent collapse-in-progress, he won't be back. The Greg Williams or Al Saunders era begins next season... and so does the Jason Campbell era.
8. Bill Parcells - No matter what happens in Dallas, I cannot envision Parcells going through another season with TO. Somebody has to go.
Just my two cents.

not enough room in Dallas for TO and Parcells.........Coughlin, Green and Shell probaly as well.........I think Joe Gibss will have enough by the end of the season.........
I think Gruden and Fisher might be allowed to stick around another year.......and does anyone really give rats ass about Brian Billick?

I have to agree....(did I say that)?.....with you.....
He has to be able to keep his cool.....and now...even if the team DOES start to win....I fear that he is out a job.
