Star Trek
Okay, I can't find the old Star Trek thread.....
Anybody seen the new movie? My father and my son and I went last night. I love Star Trek the tv shows, but I am usually disappointed by the movies, at least since Star Trek 3. Since then most of them sucked. The Patrick Stewart ones, while entertaining, seemed like long tv shows.
I was apprehensive about this one. Only reason I went was because my son really, really wanted to. Did not like the idea of going with the original crew, but at the beginning of their careers. In fact, I think I am on this site somewhere saying that it would suck.
I was wrong.
The movie rocked. Great special effects, but better yet, great story. From the moment GEORGE Kirked rocked the screen in the beginning (I missed the first minute bdcause Fandango had the damn time wrong....thank god I got there 25 minutes early) to the very end. And lots of funny moments, some plays on what you already know from the original show, some you don't need to be a fan to get.
Oh, and this Uhura is definitely an upgrade from the original.
So go and watch it if you have not.

Re: Star Trek
I feel for you buddy.....I have both cars in need of inspection this month, and I know that I need at least 6 new tires between them, a couple of alignments, and rear windshield wiper (ripped off by a kid who got pissed off when I told him to stop speeding thru my street when he drops his girlfriend off next door) and who knows what my mechanic is going to find when he looks under the hood.
See, the trick is, have your fun BEFORE you take the cars to the shop. That's what I did.

oh... believe me... that was my plan. problem is, my car is a stubborn little bitch. she decided she was not getting enough attention, and that she wanted attention, and she wanted it NOW. so know what she did? she made her argument on my way to work, between two lanes of traffic on I-395 South, heading into downtown DC.
needless to say, she won the damn argument.
and yes... I'm convinced my car is a "she".

That sucks Rich. Sorry to hear that....don't you realize you can never win an argument with a chick? I thought your wife would have taught you that by now.
Had my inspection yesterday (on my car...my wife's is on Wednesday)....not as bad as I had feared. Routine stuff, but it still cost me over $900...tires, brakes, alignment and a few other minor things. I was expecting a couple struts, which would have added about $400 to 600, so I guess I can expect that next June.

I didn't know you were a Trekkie Becky. Good for you. I hope all is well with you and your kids.
