The fact that McCain is really no different than either of these candidates will help, but I'm not sure true conservatives will come out to vote.

there is one man that hopes your wrong.
that wants to see the ill will continue to the convention
that would like to see Hillary and Obama GUT each other until the last possible day
~que the Imeprial march...
It is almost to the critical mass that Gore could walk into the convention, declare himself the great salvation of the party and walk out the nominee.
Would not be shocked at ALL to see the Dems emerge from a brokered convention with a Gore / Obama ticket

it could only happen if the convention is brokered.
because then it is the delegates that decide not the people.
I would hate it as a GoPer because McCain versus Oscar and Noble winner Al Gore is a LOSS, possibly a 49 state LOSS.
I think Gore would be so welcomes by the majority of democratic voters the stink of the primaries think would blow over. He could easy talk about the botched election cycle, the dirty politics, and the good of the party.
In the end everyone loves a winner.
Al Gore could save the democratic party.
I hate Al Gore

I don't think Gore would have more appeal to independents than would McCain. It's the independents who choose the President.

just asking this out of sheer curiosity, from a stanpoint of understanding... are you saying that if Barack finished his Senate term at least... maybe served a second one, or maybe served a term as governor... that you could see him as a more viable candidate? not that you would vote for him, mind you... but that you think he'd be a better candidate? in spite of all the muslim rhetoric, anti-semantic rhetoric, and being evil rhetoric, these simple steps, assuming he was successful at the jobs of course, would make you feel better about him running? just want to make sure I understand correctly.

I am assuming that
1. he would be a more polished canidate with a better resume
2. we would no longer be at war with the muslim world so who cares if he is a muslim (I do not care that JFK was catholic, or that Romney is Mormon)
3. the anti semite thing probably does not come up because his foriegn policy advisor (the real anti jew in the Obama camp) would be dead
4. the anti-chirst crap would be null and void after 2012, plus the only real way to make that stick is the OUT OF NO where part.
but I do and always have felt that a 2nd term Obama or ex-senator now Governor Obama at 50 or 55 years old would be a hard canidate to beat.
He would not have been running against a nasty politican like Clinton either
In case I have not been clear, I have a problem with a man with muslim ties being president during a war with the muslim world. Not problems with a muslim man in general.
I would not have supported Arnold during our war with the Nazi's (Arnold's dad was rumored to be pro nazi)
so in short yes, I feel if Obama had waited one election cycle he would not only have been a better canidate, but probably a slam dunk canidate.
