I also said I saw a clip where they were yelling things such as treason, and such. I tried to find the clip, but I couldn't. I just know that to me, it seems that McCain and Palin are not even on the same page sometimes. McCain has gone out of his way, imo, to not let this campaign become about things like Obama being an "arab" or a communist or some kind of dangerous person, per se, as a President. he has condemned that approach on more than one occasion, and I commend him for that. to my knowledge, Palin did condemn it, finally, sometime within the last week when asked directly in an interview. I commend her for that as well. prior, it seemed to me she was fine with letting that stuff fester, for the good of the campaign. that is just how I see it.
either way, please stop bringing up the "kill him" chants, because I think you are the 2nd or maybe 3rd person who pointed to that in this particular exchange (I do not feel like going back to check), and I have said multiple times I am not referring to the specific "kill him" chant. I do not know how many times I am supposed to say that is not what I am referring to. you want to attack something I am talking about, then attack the fact I cannot find the video supporting my claim even a little bit, because for whatever reason, I cannot find the stupid thing, even though I know I watched it a few weeks ago. long story short, I do not like Sarah Palin. and for every reason I can say why I do not, you guys will have a counter-argument, and I really do not see the point in spinning wheels on this, since it will not change my mind, and it will not change yours either. she has done things a President would have to do, but on a state level, and I understand that, and you guys are fine with that, and I am not. that is really all there is to it, at the end of the day. at no point have I ever pretended I can win an argument with any of you here regarding this stuff, and I am certainly not about to start pretending I can now. I am just going with the way I feel about this whole thing and that is it for me, really.
I agree with you guys about the media portrayal in all of this though.

There were 2 different things we discussed....the first was the McCain one, which you commended him on, and the 2nd was when Palin was by herself. This WAS the kill him thing, and the reason she did not respond was because it did NOT happen. I think you are actually confusing the 2 now Rich. It WAS the kill him thing you were talking about. She has done nothing wrong. She has not called him a terrorist. She has called him a Socialist, which I think she is. She has not called him an Arab. She has called him inexperienced. Rich I think you DO need to go back and check what you wrote, because you were upset about the "Kill Him" comments and HER smiling about it, but those comments were never made.

Re: Election 2008
I really wish you guys would just stop talkign about this stuff
McCain has lost
Obama will win
In a lot of ways that scares the crap out of me
but I am excited to see that the American people have progressed far enough that a black man can be elected President.
Obama is not my choice, he is not the best choice, hell as Walter Williams said he is not Jackie Robinson, but he does seem to be the choice
and that is historically significant
now the GoP needs to reload and concentrate on the mid term elections in 2010
and Obama needs to go to Pennsylvania Avenue and prove he is not anti-american, anti-semetic, not a socialist, and that he will NOT be Nanci Pelosi's pack mule.
I hope for the country's sake he can do all that.

It looks like they won't have a Senate majority.

in my humble opinion, there is no need to inject that stuff into who should get elected. the person that did that was is a fucking pyscho, who should go to prison... plain and simple.

clarke... that was weeks ago. in this conversation, I said the above...

what I did find, however, is an article and clip where Palin did say she would not stand for such things if she heard them. the crowds are large... lots of stuff is being yelled... I heard them, but then, I was watching video. I will give her the benefit of the doubt, and hold her at her word that if she heard inappropriate comments, she would react accordingly, like her running mate did. here is that clip/article:
Palin on the Angry Tone at Rallies - The Brody File: David Brody Blog - CBN News
so yes... I was upset that she did not take the stance against it that McCain took. which I have credited him for time and time again in this very thread. so just to clarify, I really have nothing against McCain. I just disagree with him on some things. he is definitely no Bush... that much is for damn sure!
|
and I responded with this.
so again... I was not referring to the "kill him" accusations. nor am I confusing anything. the only thing I am wrong in right now in this regard, is that I am no longer able to find the footage I know I watched a couple of weeks ago regarding this. which means, I cannot support my claim, which, of course, makes my claim invalid, as it should.
I hope this clears it up, that I am, again, not talking about the "kill him" chants, and we can all move away from that now.

it's cool. in all honesty, I know it may not seem like it, but I appreciate this stuff. it makes me think and not do what I think I have done prior to this... which is be more of a "sheep" than I'd like to admit. I have learned truly learned to think for myself in politics, way better than I used to, due pretty much all to you guys here. and I mean, I have learned quite a bit from pretty much all of you... EO, Loan, Josh, Clarke and Becks. it is just that I happen to disagree with some things this time around, and that is fine. I know for me, it certainly does not change anything I feel about anyone here, that's for sure. I have not walked in your shoes no more than you have walked in mine, so I certainly have no hard feelings for the difference of opinion. it is what it is. when this is all over, whatever happens, we'll be back onto football until the next major election. no biggie, from a conversational point of view, for me.

Re: Election 2008
Senatorial election updates these are seats that look to be shifting from one party to another
Virginia Warner +26
Colorado Udall +11.3
Alaska Begich +.6
Minnesota Franken +.7
New Hampshire Shaheen +8.6
New Mexico Udall +17.6
North Carolina Hagan +2.0
Oregon Merkley +3.0
The Senate is currently 51 to 49 DEM
These pick ups would make it 59 to 41 DEM
Of course that is if Joe Leiberman and Bernard Sanders continue caucus with the DEMs
While the DEMs would have a strong majority, they will it looks like fall one short of being able to have the 60 strong majority it takes to block fillabusters and overirde presidential vetos.
Unless Olympia Snowe or Arlen Specter switch parties. Both have been indentified as potential swaps by the DEMs.
There is also the less likely chance that John McCain's famous temper makes him take things out on the GoP and swithc himself.
