Re: Election 2008
I have let work know I'll be in late and vote in the morning and I"m always in and out. If I wait till after work I'm screwed, and have to listen to hispanic women bitch about not being able to vote in Hillary Clinton.

Early voting allows you to go to the polls starting today, I think, and vote now to avoid the long lines on Nov 4.
|
This is BS. Open up more polling sites on "THEE" Day then. I in no way trust this sort of system.

Re: Election 2008
The "early voting" movement was created to help provide timely results and it has stayed to help combat voter apathy
now you have a growing percentage of the vote already counted by 7:00 election night
it is VERY VERY rare that early voting results do not mimic the final results within 5 percent
it is a very nice way for the TV news to predict winners
so like everything these days it is a means to satisfy the "results now" sheep of the MSM
Honestly I use early voting as a weapon
get 25 (250, 2500, etc) people you can count on.
have each of them pick out 10 people from the voters rolls they know
and you call that person everyday until they vote and you ask them each to call 2
25 turns into 250
250 turns into 500
and so on
you cannot tell how they voted but you can tell if they did, and you assume they voted your way because you asked them. Big thing with voters now, they want to feel like they have personally been asked for their vote.
if I just had election day I could not pull the list each day and brow beat people into voting.

Re: Election 2008
LOAN and GBGUY
please do anything you can to help this lady
Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. Proudly Serving the 6th District of Minnesota
she was cruising to re-election before hardball twisted her into a corner
now the Obama campaign has poured a million dollars into TV ads for her opponent
some of her opinions can be twisted to controversy, but the gist of it is she does not think steps toward socialism and communism are good for America.
I think she could probably use a better speach writer, but the idea that Americans should not be lead to socialism by their elected officals is correct.

I'd like to, but she's not in my district. I have to make sure John Kline gets reelected. But I do like her, and I think she'll pull it off.

I hope you are right.
I am tryign to get her some money raised (unsolicited) and sent to her just to let her know that some of us respect that point of view, maybe even as many as dislike it.

probably not in unionized areas, but here in Texas I would say the GOP dominates early voting 3 to 1
the only way to combat it in heavy union areas are churches. I have seen catholic, baptist, and methodist churches put 50 in a bus on Sunday afternoon soon as service lets out, drive them to the poll, hand them "example ballot" prefilled out or even easier spend the entire drive telling them how easy it is to just punch straight ticket, then drive them back to church where you feed them a prepared lunch, and take the next group.
Of course I doubt the baptist Sunday church vote drives will be as kind to the GoP this year.

Because they, like Republicans, also want children to be stupid and for old people to die.

And don't forget that they are in favor of dirty air and dirty water like Republicans.
