not to mention he gave Obama sort of a catchy new slogan for the brain dead to chant and get a new fever spreading across the county... VOTE FOR THAT ONE!

I cannot quite remember about the beginning, but nope... he did not shake his hand at the end. I was specifically watching for that. even when he introduced his wife. Obama shaked his wife's hand, as McCain sort of gave him a pat on the back and walked away. that, along with the whole "That One" comment... just seems to not be playing well for McCain. while Hilary did her best to make Obama seem "elitest", McCain seems to making himself look like that all on his own:
multiple homes... so many, he could not even remember how many...
multiple vehicles... many not even american, even if they are not "technically" his.
his seeming inability to even look at Obama in debate no. 1...
Millionaire (billionaire??) beer heiress wife... who was first his mistress...
I'm not saying that any of these things are inherently wrong (okay... maybe the mistress part)... and not saying Obama does not have issues either... just saying that with the efforts of Hillary herself to pain Obama as an elitest and being out-of-touch with the average American... just seems like McCain has done this to himself without any assistance at all.
oh... and Palin seems to be becoming the dumbest... most stupid... most pathetic VP choice in the history of the GOP. dude... here is what CANNOT happen during a Presidential campaign. the candidete him or herself... not even the VP candidate... can give a speech attacking the opponent... and then have the crowd cheering "KILL HIM, KILL HIM, OFF WITH HIS HEAD!!!", even if the opponent was the same race... now, toss in the fact that this particular opponent is black, in a country with the racial history this one has, that is trying its very best to put those feelings and images away in the past... and you basically have political suicide. that was just ridiculous. and she stood there the whole time, with a smirk on her face.
Palin is turning out to be a nightmare of a choice as a running mate. no wonder they were trying to keep her mouth closed. and now, Pandora's box is open, and they can't close it...

I wouldn't have shaken the pricks hand either. He was taking cheap shots at McCain then immediately saying, "But you don't want to hear that kind of politicing." Somehow it was ok for him to take a cheap shot, then state that the type of campaigning he just committed isn't what the voters wanted to hear.

well, I will go with us seeing things differently. in my opinion, they are both doing the same thing. that does not mean you do not shake a man's hand. everyone knows you are in this to try to win. so maybe you would not have shaken his hand... that is fine. but if you are running for President, then fine... be above that, recognize you are both trying to win, and shake hands... that's all.
but that said, and that being my opinion, as I said previously... I am not saying, personally, that what he did was "wrong", even if I think he could have shaken the man's hand... all I am saying is clearly, public opinion is shifting for many reasons, on who is "elitist"... that's all. I am just trying to take from an analytical standpoint... not as my actual personal opinion... which may sound like an oxymoron given my opinion actually is, he could have shaken the man's hand.

They did shake hands immediately after the debate before the wifes came on stage. If you watched CNN or NBC they didn't show it. Fact.

Well then you would be correct. I can only see what was shown, I guess, so I did not see it. I watched it on CNN because they have a cool score card feature they show during the debates when watched in HD. so as far as I knew... or know, aside from what you are saying... I saw no handshake.

socialists, yes... I am not sure I see exactly how Obama is an elitist though.
that said... I have been doing a lot of reading on Bill Ayers... what a prick. and a communist. guy makes me want to puke. I am amazed at his standing as a college professer though. dude, I gotta tell ya... I know guys that did NOTHING compared to him, yet served 10 year bids. man, it must seriously pay to have a wealthy family. wow.
I am trying to connect all the dots with this guy and Obama... here is what I have been able to find out so far:
they once lived in the same neighborhood.
the guy had some sort of get together at his house, kicking off Obama's first run for state office.
they served on a board together on which Obama was chair(?), which seemed to use funds to grant scholarships(?).
the guy once made a $200 contribution to Obama's 2nd run(?) for state office.
I guess I am having a tough time finding what was inappropriate about their affiliation? while I do detest Ayers, I simply cannot find anything innappropriate about their contact. from what I can tell, they do not appear to otherwise have some sort of deep friendship or anything, other than wild accusations being spewed by those that... well... hate Obama. from what I can tell, they look like they did some good in Chicago while serving on this board. does anyone have any trustworthy sources that may shed more light on this (by trustworthy, I would mean not some right-leaning publication that is not objective)?

I do not care if you like or dislike the guy/girl accross from you
shaking hands and being polite is just being a good sport
calling Obama "that one" was pretty standard McCain flippance, I do not think he meant it to be rude, disrespectful, or racist (some MSM have been saying this). It was just McCain being McCain a schooly yard hard arse with a navy sense of humor. Still it was a death blow to an already sinking ship.
As Rich said it did not take long for it to become a slogan...

The guy has a party at his house kicking off Obama's run for office and you see no connection? The guy served on the board of a community orgainzation and you don't see that as an association? Please don't tell me you aren't biased by this point.
