Of course they are striving to win the National Championship....every team is of course, but they are one of about 10 teams that can say that and have a legitimate shot at it. I hate it when coaches are like that.

it is tradition in Notre Dame for the coach to under sell the team
Knute did it, Lehey did it,
and well Holtz made you think the Irish would be lucky to last in a game versus Lil 3 year Timmy and his blind one legged dog zero.
Willingham did it too but he might have been telling the truth his teams sucked, just like him.
It does get somewhat annoying but it is like I say a tradition.

you and me both brother, the winner has a chance to be the crowned favorite for most of the rest of the season
one more thing I would add about the under sell, in the prep ralley the night before Weis does not preach the well if we can just compete line, the under sell is for the media and I suppose the football Gods.

Were you the least bit scared last night Eo?...Penn State is going to be tougher than Georia Tech.....but it's at home..big difference....at least we will not have to hear that ridiculous "rrrrraaaawaaahhh"...of the lion if it were at Penn State..sorry Clarke..that sound gets on my nerves.

yeah I was a bit uncomfortable after the second missed FG but the upper classmen for ND really stepped up Quinn, Walker, and Maurice Crum Jr all played lights out in the 2nd half.
Penn State is a much different football team and will be a threat BUT they do not have Calvin Johnson and I will be glad to be done with that dude.
6'5 44 inch verticle he was a monster for Ga Tech
