While this week lacks the BIG TIME matchup of Ohio State versus USC it does have some nice grudge matchs and some Conference battles...
#4 Florida Gators crawl into Neyland Stadium to take on the always tough Tennessee Volunteers. The Vols started the season with a HEART BREAKER against a bad UCLA they were over looking and are lookign at hated rival Florida as the road back from it. Florida is looking for style points to close the gap between themselves and USC and figure blowing out the Vols in Tennessee is the best way to start. The Vols stole Florida RB coach Stan Drayton in the off season and are counting on Drayton offering them a little insight on how to stop Tim Teabow and the gators.
#9 Alabama ROLL TIDE into Razorback Stadium tryign to go 2 and 0 versus the hogs under coach Nick Saban. The undefeated Razorbacks however have different plans as Bobby Petrino knows the fastest way into the college football penthouse are wins versus top 10 SEC schools. Two failed NFL coaches hunting perfect seasons and prosperity in the college ranks. The high scoring Bama offense is favored here, but betting against the hogs getting points at home does not sounds right to me.
An over looked game will be the revitalized Notre Dame Fighting Irish versus Michigan State. A battle of two teams that have NEVER liked each other and have a rivalry dating back to 1897. The Irish are looking to reverse the recent 8 of 11 win mark MSU has. While the Spartans wish to continue it as they seek to even out the 42-26-1 advantage Notre Dame has all time. ND has won the last three games in East Lansing and will try to make it 4. This is the annual battle for the MEGAPHONE Trophy
PROBABLY THE BIGGEST GAME OF THE WEEK IF NOT YEAR...
Is #6 LSU versus #10 Auburn
Two teams that will punch you in the mouth on defense and run by you at break neck spped on offense. The winner of this game will represent the SEC West in the SEC Championship. Of course one of these teams have done that in six of the last eight years. These are college football power houses, one trying to defend their national championship and another trying to win this years. This rivalry has seen unheard of QBs step up and become NFL players (Jason Campbell with a minute left scores the game winner to preserve an undefeated season in 2004. Matt Flynn remarkable come from behind to win in the closign moments last year, to set up their championship run)
This is a must watch guys. It has talent, tradition, coaching, rivarly, and a bunch of dudes that will be playign on Sunday in the near future.
