That being said, we need a QB. Charlton just has never developed at all and is holding us back. With that RB we have, just an average passing game could make this team worthy to play teams at the back end of the top 25. I don't know what we have waiting in the wings, but Charlton can't be allowed back on that field.

temple has the #1 recruiting class in the MAC for this year
Elijah Grant is 340 pounds of bad MFer and should start on the Oline day one. The kid Deon Miller he is bringing with him from hgih school is a 6'6 200 pound WR that should IMMEDIATELY create UGLY mismatches in the passing game. As if that was not enough two other kids from that high school (Fork Union) DE Aaron Hush 6'4 250 and DB Andrew Opoku 6'4 210 (you read that right 6'4 210 with enough talent to be listed DB not just safety) will join the Owls too. (you should probably go to a Fork Union game as 4 of thier seniors will be starters at Temple eventually)
The future is bright for Temple in my opinion.
6'3 190 pound QB Connor Reilly saind no thank you to Steve Spurrier at SC to come to Temple. He may not be physically ready to play college ball this year but soon buddy soon.
Last years steal from Virginia Crowyer might be ready
for now though I think mixing in Chester Stewart more is probably the answer
but there is something to be said for Charlton's size not too many 235 pound QBs

Re: Temple Owls...
Virgina just fired Al Grogh
Matter of time before Al Golden (former 5 year DCoord for the Cavs) is contacted for an interview

With Bernard Pierce in that backfield, if he can keep him for the full 4 years, he has a legitimate weapon that may be among the toast of college ball in 3 years, and that is something to build on. Virginia isn't exactly a powerhouse. They, like Temple, are a basketball school. Its a lateral move. I am still betting he waits out Joe Pa, or eventually settles for a legitimate powerhouse, or one that has potential to be (like UCLA who came calling last season).
Maybe this is all hope by me, and I know he will be offered an interview. But I don't see Virginia as being a step up. They are a contender about as often as Connecticut or Rutgers, which isn't often, and I think putting Temple at those school's levels is a greater accomplishment, and I think that means something to Golden. Now, if Notre Dame or Florida or Pitt comes calling, then I think we could be in trouble, but only 1 of those 3 are looking, and I don't know if Notre Dame can get somebody with as short of a resume as Golden.

For a couple of days there was a "coach in waiting" mentality in which Weis stayed another season and the University hired a defensive minded head coach from another school to run the defense one (maybe two) years. Then Weis would move on and the new guy would take over completely. Under that scenario MY short list had Al Golden on it. The only advantage to keeping Weis was not losing Clausen and Golden Tate to the draft and it would have allowed ND to get a strong coach and ease them into the job.
I think Golden might leave for Virgina because of his former ties there, but it is the Penn State gig he wants. I think that is all a timing thing if Joe Pa drops today then Greg Schiano might be the right now pick. Where has if it drags a year it is more and mor elikely to be Golden.
Some rumors about Notre Dame vs Temple in the "how the hell did these guys end up here bowl" this year. If I was Temple I would not want Golden any where near Jack Swarbrick

Re: Temple Owls...
the flip side is a bunch of Al Grogh assistants just became available and the Temple coaching staff is on the short list of teams that could benifit from it.

the international bowl is one of the "possibles" presented to the Notre Dame team yesterday when they were asked to vote on attending or not attending a bowl game.
Temple is a canidate for that game
Temple vs Notre Dame good for you sad for us

Re: Temple Owls...
"I just haven't had any contact with anybody [from Cincy]," Golden said according to the Philadelphia Daily News. "Right now I'm just going about my business. I don't know what the future brings, but I'm just trying to get ready to play UCLA."
Golden was then asked if he would talk to the Bearcats if they reached out to him.
"I don't know," Golden said. "I don't know."
The latest in the hottest Cinncy Bearcats next head coach rumors
and it has been confirmed by the Philly Daily News that UoC has contacted Temple for permission to talk to Al Golden about their open spot.
To Golden's credit it does sound like he will lead his boys in their bowl game before leaving.

They have a great team this year, but I don't remember them being like that year in and year out. Like Temple, they are a basketball school. Only 12 years ago they had ended a 47 year drought of no bowl games. Even Temple had not ever met that. If it were me, I stay where I am, figuring the golden arrow is coming my way in the next 2 to 3 years (Penn State) and building my own winner (Temple) is more impressive than winning with somebody else's team (Cincinnatti) for 2 or 3 years. Plus job-hopping is not a way to build a resume, especially in a place like Penn State where loyalty has been the rule.

Cinncy is undefeated with 10 new to the defense starters, they are the odds on favorite to win the Big East again next year and thus go to their third straight BCS bowl. The last head coach of Cinncy spring boarded into maybe the highest profile job in college football. The bearcats should easy be the springboard needed for Penn State too.
I see the merits.
What I wonder is if Golden wants to put a Penn State clause in his contract will Cinncy be ok with that? Knowing that the Notre Dame clause in Kelly's just bit them in the arse
