The New Top 15
These are ranked in order by the AP poll and have the toughest games left beside them.
Ohio State~ 6-0 Mich ST, Minn, Mich
Florida~ 6-0 Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, FSU
USC~ 5-0 Oregon, Cal, ND, UCLA
Michigan~ 6-0 Penn St, Iowa, Ohio State
West Virginia~ 5-0 Louisville, Pitt, Rutgers
Texas~ 5-1 Nebraska, Tech, and A&M
Louisville~ 5-0 West Virginia, Rutgers, Pitt
Tennesee~ 5-1 LSU, Arkansas
Notre Dame~ 5-1 UCLA, all 3 service academies, USC
Cal~ 5-1 UCLA, USC
Auburn~ 5-1 Florida, Georgia
Clemson~ 5-1 GTech, Va Tech, Maryland, NC State, So Car
Georgia Tech~5-1 Clemson, Miami, NC St, Georgia
LSU~ 4-2 Tenn, Arkansas
Iowa~ 5-1 Mich, Wisconsin, Minn
I know not everyone cares but it is a pretty exciting time in college football. The lack of two undefeated teams at the end and the inclusion of a spare team like Louisville to the championship picture is a major blow to the BCS and a step toward a playoff.
Another blow would be an ultra popular team leap frogging which might happen with my Irish.

this bloody Saturday
#2 lost to Auburn
#15 Iowa lost
#16 Georgia lost
#19 Missouri lost
#22 Va Tech lost
and today is BCS day number 1 with the poll to be released after the morning NFL games on FOX
7 undefeated teams remain
Ohio State 7-0 ~play Mich
USC 6-0
West Virginia 6-0 ~play louisville and Rutgers
Mich 7-0 ~play Ohio State
Louisville 6-0 ~play West Virginia and Rutgers
Boise State 6-0
Rutgers 6-0 ~play WV and Rutgers
so say Rutgers, Louisville, and West Virginia all split
winner of OSU and Mich and USC IF they beat Notre Dame could be it for undefeated teams.
For those watching the Heisman race Adrian Peterson from OU, Chris Leak from Florida, and Garrett Wolfe from North Illinois should both be out now. Peterson suffered yet another season ending injury (colar bone), Leak after a shakey performance the week before had a fumble and a INT that cost Florida the game, and Wolfe managed just 25 yards on 18 carries and a 1.4 ypc against a lowly Western Michigan team.
Front runners...
Troy Smith QB Ohio State
Steve Slanton RB West Virgina
Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
you could force in a Charles Johnson or a Eric Ainge but these are the 3 legitimate canidates and as of right now the one with the lowest chance of being a Pro at his position is the front runner in little Troy Smith.

Week 8 Top 25 battles
#3 Michigan plays #23 Iowa (last team with a stones throw shot of beating the Blue before Ohio State)
#4 Auburn plays #25 Tulsa (down one week with a loss to Arkansas, up the next week with a big win over Florida can Tulsa sneak in?)
#9 Texas plays #17 Nebraska (this game might help decide the BIG 12 BCS team)
#12 Clemson plays #19 Georgia Tech (this game goes a long way to deciding the ACC BCS team)
4 games with possible BCS bowl ramifications for certain
others to watch
West Virginia plays the dreaded Friday night trap game that in the last few years has droped Miami, Va Tech, and Maryland. The Mountaineers will play and up and down UConn team at UConn. This game will be a nasty cold weather event. This comes on the heels of WV trailing in a football game for the first time in over a year Saturday, while UConn is coming off a victory over Army.
Louisville plays a dangerous young Syracuse team that for two quarters looked like they had put it all together last week versus West Virginia. This is the Syracuse home coming game and knocking off a top ten team would really excite the Orange faithful.
Heisman talk...
With the loss of Adrian Peterson to, yet another, injury and with Garrett Wolfe getting shut down by Western Michigan only three canidates remain really. Well until another shake up that is.
Troy Smith QB Ohio State has all the moves but some scouts say he is sub 6'0 and eventually that will be exploited right?
Steve Slaton RB West Virginia has all the skills but like Bush last year his QB (next years front runner) is hurting him.
Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame has the skills that make NFL scouts drool and has a Notre Dame team in the the running despite a suspect defense. Pretty boy looks, difficult schedule, 2 key drop outs, and the ND cash register keeps his name on the board but he will need at least one HUGE game to catch up to the Smith and Slaton.

Penn State has had a rough road man. If the season ended today Penn State will have played 3 of the 10 BCS bowl teams. One of them the odds on favorite to win it and another one the runner up to that.
The young offensive line just was not, has not been up to it this year.
In all though they gave 7 sacks and darn near got 2 QBs killed versus Michigan and still only lost by 7. There is hope for the future.
Winning out gets them a nice bowl pay day, not BCS but a nice one.

man some nail biters today
Quinn reaches down and grabs a pairs with a 47 yard game winner with 20 something ticks left on the clock.
Texas back up kicker puts one through to win by 2 with the same
Tenn cannot score until the end and then holds of a come back attempt by the Tide
Iowa hung around but eventually lost, same for some others.
Good football this week.
